steam and smoke all over the show you will need a first class steam ticket to fly the bloody thing .

Thats the fun point and difference between a GA plane and a Warbird in which if you have the gear - throttle/rudder pedals then with all the switch's turned max real - SUPERB !

not sure if you bought anything yet, but for me it's A2A all the way as well.
Real Air is was fantastic when it came out, but A2A have pushed the envelope sooo much further.
Forget Just Flight, nowhere near.

All my repaints for MSFS can be found on flightsim.to
Older repaints for FS9, FSX and P3D are on avsim

Trouble is for me that the MkV still has a single radiator and that blunt prop spinner. Post MkV spittys you get dual radiators and a sharper looking spinner that is more the classic looking spitfire.

Interesting that you state that you want a "classic" looking Spit, and imply that the Mk IX is that classic shape. Where did you form your impression? For me its actually the other way around - the "classic" shape is the early version, up to the Mk V. My reasoning is that these are the marks that defended Great Britain against the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain, and prior to D-Day.

Also, the Mk IX (and the Mk XVI which was the Packard-Bell engined version of the IX) was pretty much the final high-back variant and the last Merlin one as well. The wings were reshaped slightly also, so overall you have that more extreme "angular" shape in the fuselage, plus the beginnings of the deviation away from the classic eliptical wing shape.

Anyway, get the A2A, that's what I say... biggrin.gif

It will be A2A...just should I wait for the MK v or get the MkI/II now(Jan Kees I assume there will be some nice repaints from your excellent paint shop) and then get the MK V when it becomes available..... winkyy.gif

Should I get it direct through A2A site or one of the third party resellers such as FlightSim's Pilot shop??

Mate , go directly to A2A , the service and backup is without the dou't the most personal support and direct service currently .

As for paints , JanKees thumbup1.gif , sorta has his near own private hanger for paints .. www.aussiex.org

whathesaid.gif to all of the above smile.gif

The A2A forums are very friendly and very knowledgeable.

If you've seen Brendon Deere's Mk IX Spit in Real Life and fancy making your MkII look like it, you can always try my repaint: here. Just doing that repaint made me realise just how much more detail there is in the A2A model (over the RealAir one).

My only issue with the early Spits is the chronic cooling system (only one radiator - and even that is partially affected by flaps etc.). How the BoB pilots coped with that (in the fairly hot summer of 1940), I just don't know.

OK, I have cracked and got the A2A Spit, still to get the Accusim expansion for it, but loving it so far, thumbup1.gif

but I have a question, in the manual it shows the MK1 with the 2 blade prop, and the Mk II with the 3 blade, which is what shows when choosing the aircraft in the free flight menu, but when the Mk II load they have the 2 blade prop...so does this mean you only get the 3 blade prop if you get the expansion to be able to change it in the maintainance hanger??

YES INDEEDO .. you can change bits and pieces , canopy , prop .. Auccusim is so much more to create a real feel , even engine weight with a wheels up .

Gotta say the Mk 1 are a major to manage the rpm/boost with the 2 setting for the prop!!

Hopefully the Mark V isn't too far way now that the P-51D is out.
