NZ Harvards

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

I have a number of Harvards from NZ for FS2004, but they work very well in FSX too. It has 91 based at Classic Flyers in Tauranga, and 65, 78 etc, as well as one in Camouflage.
If anyone is interested, I will put it into my Dropbox and give you a link for it. They are very good detail and fun to fly.

That would be choice! I love the Harvard but I can't sign up at SOH to download the majority of paints.

Presumably you are refering to the repaint and not the whole aircraft?

One many find flightsim.com the best to upload to , cant understand why AVSIM still have not found the many thousands off files .. blink.gif

Another good place to find Harvard paints would be OZx @ aussiex.org , many superb works from JanKees and Jeansy and course many others .

Ok, here are the files for the NZ Harvards, plus Harvard 98, plus the DH Dove with the old RNZAF textures. It is incorrectly labelled as the Devon, but it is a Dove. Enjoy them all.

Edited by admin you can not list payware aircraft here for downloading

I know I can't post payware. I also have been flying on the Flightsims for years and know the rules.

From one of the readme's you have just uploaded:
The textures in this package are copywrite to their author , Andrew ( Toz ) Pattison.
Specific permission MUST be obtained for any use of this texture pack.
They may not be uploaded without the authors consent.

This was put into Simviation a couple of years ago because it was an old model. It was textured for Harvard 91 by Mr. Tier, and he gave it to me. He would not have given it to me if it was still payware - he is well known in the NZ flightsim community.
I shared it in all good faith. If anyone else has an objection, let me know and I will delete it.

Your files have already been removed as you had the Alphasim T-6 aircraft files in there.

That "anyone" would be the author.
Copyright vests in the author of a work, and does not depend on whether it is "payware" or not.
If you upload his work without permission, you are distributing it, and so breaching his copyright.

The internet, wild west thing that it is, has somehow perverted people's understanding of what constitutes theft.
If it is not yours, you may not take it and do things with it.
Period.
The readme's and other blather are there for those who might not know the rules, and who can read.

Mr. Kim Dotcom has challenged this conventional wisdom.
Perhaps his mind will be changed if he goes to an American slammer for an extended stay.
It's an important case, and may change the way the internet functions.

A question about the Harvard(s) in question. Let's say, hypothetically, this aircraft and texture set resides in my hangar. Does my uploading screenshots of these violate the copyright law?

Funny you mention that , the amount off payware i have - Alphasim for example , they were and still are very costly , how is it many have not one but a dozen ... so the price jumps to well over $600NZ ... proof off purchase should be required ... many including myself have spent thousands on these products yet some have a instant ATM beside them .

I don't quite understand what's going on here ... ;-)

This is my "take":

If the repaints are for a *payware* model, then all the repainter has to do is create an archive with *only* the repaint textures - with instructions on how to add them to existing (payware texture copies). Users will still need to have the original textures on their system for it to work. This is quite common.

*However* ... if the repaint textures are edited *copies* of either the original payware textures (or someone else's repaints) then that would breach copyright and permission would need to be gained. As far as original *repainters* are concerned, it's quite common to see permissions/acknowledgements to the original repainters in the readme.txt.

Whether the textures are created from a supplied/free "paintkit", no files outside those created by the paintkit can be added to the archive, or that will breach copyright.

So ... can this yellow Harvard repaint be repackaged so as not to infringe copyright?

Bummer - I quite like that yellow one!

The A/S Harvard is really *ancient* (in FSX terms) and Virtavia should really add it to the "Free" list. Maybe they already have! Either way, the repaint could be re-packaged so as not to infringe copyright.
