What a place, but what a shame its all just rotting away. That Mil-12, is a scary looking thing..........

Well... this is Monino, home of the russian Aviation history... but the conditions for the aircraft are hard. Outside of any hangar, year after year and only rudimentary preserved...

Same thing we have here in Riga, Latvia. Here is one of the greatest collections of soviet aircraft outside of Russia, but the Latvians do nothing to preserve such a nugget. "Only some damaged aircraft by the damned russian occupants of our beloved Latvia". They completely ignore the value of such collection. Here we have... a Prototpe of the Tu 22M3, nearly all helicopters of Mil, included the Mil Mi 24A with Mi 8-style-canopy, a very rare bird. All MiG-Aircraft since the MiG 15, a collection of Suchoj-Fighters (only here to see outside of Russia)... It is a shame to see the birds in this state.

Begs the question, is there such a thing as an original idea?? Or, looking at some of those aircraft, more pointedly, did the Russians ever have any??

The big Mil-12 'Homer' Helicopter debut at the 1968 Paris airshow , one there that looks like a mini XB-70 was a copy in direct competition , as for the most other pointy jobbies got operational .. the TU-28 'Fiddler' being the largest Interceptor ever on any side .

Edit sorry Homer 63 and TU144 Concorski crashed 73
