Postby mattyHamNZ » Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:30 pm

Hi Guys, I have decided to expand on my Waikato area and do raglan as my next project.

Here's the images so far.....

(G**gle E**rth involed here again, so NO it won't be going public with these ground textures)

two questions

1. What are you using for aurogen textures? Yours look so much better than default.

2. What program do you use to 'borrow' google maps' images? I'd like to make some of my own.

Matty,
Great work here mate. Are you using the Annotator from the Autogen SDK? how painstaking is that? but the results are fantastic.Well done mate.........

I use FSearthTiles for my google stuff. Then its a matter of fiddling with the water masks to get the results you really want.

I have now re-done most of the mesh surrounding the airfield to get the right ground shape around the bridges, roads, etc. The Autogen textures are from Mike (creator2003). He has them available as a freeware download, man they make a difference!! THANKS MIKE!

I will start on the Gmax modeling of the close proximity area now and complete the Autogen over the next few days or so.

Don't use FS Earthtiles Matt but do you create a KML file through G**gle for the water/blend mask or some other method? Interesting.....

I do use a KML from google maps but I find that I generally need to tweak a lot to get the desired result. The areaMASK bitmap that is produced is quite good to work with.

Yes I am using the annotator for autogen, don't know of any other way really? It puzzles me sometimes though, when I open the BGL for editing and highlight some vegetation, it sometimes tells me what it is and sometime not??? I have no idea what causes it but it bugs the hell out of me?? Lets say I have 5 or 6 different vegetations around a given area, I can't tell them apart unless the annotator feels like it??

Anyone know whats causing that? unsure.gif

The names are stored in autogendescriptions.xml, so until you open the XML file it won't be able to put a name to a GUID.
