Also is there any way to get a DC4 VC cockpit to work in the Carvair???
I will send you a new prop texture that will fix that, and only some models built specifically for FSX using the latest compiling tools can accept VC cockpits from other aircraft models as far as I am aware . ..so any models pre-dating these FSX specific models cannot accept VCs from any other model. If you go into the carvairs model folder , right click on the file called " new_carv.mdl " and open it using notepad (wait for 10-20 seconds for it to open) you will see in the top left hand corner (amongst a bunch of alien looking script ) this file name " MDL8MDLH ". that indicates that it was compiled using " old " techniques and wont accept a VC from ANY othe model. If you go and do the same with say the default 737_800 , clicking on the file called " B737_800.mdl " , you will see this at the top of the opened notepad ..." MDLXMDLH " . this tells you that it is compiled using current FSX specific techniques and can accept VC's from other FSX specific models. You will notice a file called " B737_800_interior.mdl " in the default 737_800's folder,..this is its VC model. You can use that process to check any models suitability for a " VC transplant "
BTW I just got a message from my email saying the andover repaints didnt get sent due to file size so I will cut them into 2 files and will attempt to resend them to you,..sorry mate ..
Thanks for that Adrian it is a pity that someone doesn't do some FSX updates for some more of the multi engine propeller and earlier turboprop planes I like to fly the earlier ones and a good F27 for FSX would be nice to have as well. I would like to get a hanger full of the 1960 to 1980s freight and passenger planes that flew in NZ.

Thanks Adrian yes all arrived and installed. I did have then here and found them again but only one was showing in the select aircraft files. Carvair props look much better.

yup shes a pretty basic model , no wheel textures and very spartan cockpit interior seen from outside. No VC either but its a solid model which with a bit of careful texturing could possibly br made to look half decent..Last edited by Adrian Brausch on Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Maybe there is some way of changing this in the aircraft.cfg file.
Does anyone knows how to rectify this problem???
Edit: Found a fix for the Argosy problem revers thrust working fine now.
Hi
Just to clear this up..it has come up elsewhere.......There is not really a problem with the model as the Argosy never had reverse thrust. OK F2 shouldn't speed you up after landing but you have no need to touch it due to the lack of reversers. The HS.780 was the only Dart powered aircraft with reverse thrust so not on the F.27 or Viscount either as often assumed.

I did manage to get reverse thrust on the Argosy by a simple change in the aircraft.cfg file do to Propeller and alter the following files to read prop_reverse_available=1
minimum_on_ground_beta= 1 minimum_reverse_beta= -10.000garryrussell wrote:QUOTE (garryrussell @ Nov 12 2009, 11:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The HS.780 as I mentioned did have reverse thrust for special reasons and on tactical landings that could be activated at 50 feet AGL having already passing 100 AGL dropped the flap to 85 degrees (or whatever that last setting is I can't think off hand, but due to the curving the rear egde was at more than 90) and the thing would drop onto the deck and stop very, very quickly. It was not used normally or infact very often due to airframe fatigue but it was there if the need arose in combat. The RAF did those landings a few times on training at Salbury Plain. The RAF and other HS.748 Andovers like the civil machine did not have reverse. I have no idea if the RNZAF ever used their HS.780's like this.
The RNZAF Andovers did have the reverse thrust and yes they have used it at leased once I know of, I was on-board an Andover when on landing at Wigram with winds gusting to about 70kns and while about 20ft coming in just past the fence we hit wind share and dropped to about 2 ft above the end of the runway the Pilot hit the reverse thrust and we touched down about 10 feet in from the start of the runway and rolled to a stop in about 20 feet shortest landing I have ever been then the passengers were all yelling out "do you need any toilet paper up the front" then when we finally taxied in the two up front poked their heads through the door and said "No quite but it was close to a bad smell up there"
