A recent update to AVG has resulted in the 'Real NZ' CD installer menu from all Real NZ products to be flagged as a threat.

The file in question is 'autorun.exe'. This is a standard format CD autorun program, which opens the main scenery installer screen. Because it is opened automatically when you insert the CD, it may trigger a virus detection when you insert the CD.

Is it a real threat?

Be assured that this is not a threat, it is simply a temporary 'false positive', caused by one particular virus definition update, which has since been corrected. Please make sure you update your AVG virus definitions before attempting to install any Real New Zealand scenery from a CD.

If you are unable to update your definitions, or this does not solve the problem, please let me know as soon as possible.

Many posters in Technical Computer forums experienced problems with the new AVG 8 program, there were apparently many issues and not all have been solved.

Along with thousands of others, after a couple of years with AVG, I dumped it rather than be bothered with "possible" problems and went to AVAST. So far I'm very pleased with it, I have also installed it on 4 other computers and everyone seems to be happy. If anyone wanted a "heads-up" on the AVG issue there are heaps of posts on the PC World forum "F1."

That's good timing, I dumped avg yesterday for avast, it was becoming a pain. Machine is much faster now. Looks like avg has had its day.

I'm another Avast convert, I used to use Avast years ago but up till recently AVG has met my needs. RIP AVG, it's somewhat bloated nowdays.
