Ian very nice shots.
You can tell how good that model is by zooming up to its nose, ne'er a bumpy polygon to be found.
Despite all that, I can't get excited by the aircraft, somehow...
Do wonder why it needs a handle up front?

Nice SAAB SMDK, that second shot somehow reminds me of some mean critter sitting on the bottom of the sea, waiting to pounce.
Draken = Dragon, right?

Charl, Draken does indeed translate out to "Dragon". It's worth keeping in mind that the J35 Draken was a contemporary to the Dassault Mirage III.

Here are a couple more Cold War Icons: the MiG-15 Fagot and Aero-Vodchody L-39 Albatross.

The Albatross is decent eye-candy on the outside, but not much more than that, no VC, I even had to find my own 2D panel as the one that came with it didn't work.

The MiG-15 is a different story - outstanding visual model, accurate 2D and Virtual Cockpit, fully functional and you can switch the gauges from Metric to Standard units at the click of a button. She is a real joy to fly, and accurate in her handling :)

Albatross is a regular at local airshows - makes great personal transport too.
Think it was Bob Lutz (of Chrysler fame) who put his down without wheels, in front of all his admiring mates... :o
Bear Studios MiG? There are several good models about.
Green triangles on the wings - Libya? I'm happy to be pounced on again...

Actually, it's Iraqi Air Force colors on the MiG :D

My newest addition: Nemith Designs Mil Mi-24 Hind: Outstanding work. Meant to be flown from the VC (2D cockpit is decent, but hard to fly from), fast (I've had her up to 200kts), and like a real Mi-24, she isn't all that agile.

What model is that? I'm looking for one to recreate the airshow displays I have seen recently, as Charl said above, there are two currently residing in New Zealand.

And that Mi-24 has such an distracting VC, with all the typical Russian green paint everywhere, I'm surprised you did not get distracted and crash it

:hesaid: There must've been a CIA disinformation plot at the height of the Cold War:
Psychological Studies Show Turquoise/Green Most Restful Colour for Stressful Environments
The Comrades would've hacked the report and implemented their ghastly version of it...AARGH!

[color=#000000]The Nemeths are masters at the modelling art, it's a beaut.
The UN version wouldn't have a quieter VC would it?

mmm L-39 one of my few add on wishes is that the Captain Sim L-39 be updated to FS 2004 with a nice VC.

Andrew there are actually 3 L-39s in NZ now (for a short while there were 4) - one in Wanaka, another in New Plymouth and another in Nelson (which didnt appear at Wanaka). There are also 4 L-29s (the predecessor to the L-39) in NZ with one here in Tauranga - it's for sale at $180,000 - a bargin!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm love the Albatros! Ever since I saw it in "Tomorrow Never Dies" at age ten I wanted one! Had an FS98 model with, um, "photoreal" textures..... Bring on an FS9 model! WOOO!

Re the Delfins, I saw three of them (or was it 2.5?) at New Plymouth a coupla months back, very neat!

I had a pretty good L39 from Pierre Marchadier somewhere, you had to find your own panel, which wasn't too hard.
It's on the HDD somewhere...

Another Cold War icon - the venerable Northrop F-5E/F Tiger II. This is DSB/Iris's version for FS9:

This is a size comparison to give you an idea - the F-5 feels like a tiny plane but compared side to side with a C172 it looks much much larger :D

The only quirk with the plane is that the virtual cockpit doesn't work in the F model..........it uses the same 2D panel and as far as I can tell it uses the same gauges as the single seater.................

Great little F5 SM , size , they say a Skyhawk is small , hence the nicknames 'Bantam bomber', 'Scooter' you stand beside one or walk around , they seem to get quite large ! .... There are better F5s by Tim'Piglet'Conrad , and a recent released F5A at SOH , i havnt checked it out myself , but anything Tim produces is GOLD!

great idea, the shot w/ the cessna -always thought of the f-5 as a tiny a/c but it looks like heavy iron in that shot!

Nice F-5 series SM, I had that tucked away for a rainy day...it's rained :wink2:
I also thought it was much smaller than that.
In fact I thought I'd check you, in case the models were not quite right (this has happened in FS y'know...)
Sure enough, from Wiki:
F-5E Tiger II
Length: 47 ft 4¾ in (14.45 m)
Cessna 172R
Length: 27 ft 2 in (8.28 m)

Good find on the amphibs, Hugh, what were they thinking when they drew the Sea Dart??
Your shot shows very nicely what it's main problem was...it drowned itself.

Thats pretty much what it does in fsx -the fs 9 Seadart model will fly ok in fsx but doesnt like to land on water..
Its yet another Kazunori Ito model-does he ever sleep?- he has done an amazing number of great obscure cold
war a/c, many still unposted here
