FSX thursday night

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Ok, so I had trouble getting onto the NZFF server, but my workmate Jason and I went flying anyway on a server I hosted. So, I thought I'd post up my first FSX pics.
This is a default install except for FSUIPC4, Geographx 76m mesh, Red Baron Landclass and some tweaks as recommended by Jon in his post.

We flew Nelson to Blenheim which I thought might be enough of a challenge for him (newbie). Here are some pics along the way. Average FPS would be 21-22, but ranging up to 24, and every now and again dropping down to 19 or so. Just default planes and fair weather theme used.

Climbing up to get over the hills to the east of Nelson

Heading northeast now, and the Sounds are ahead of us

I've never had a plane with a glass cockpit before, so I spent much of the flight playing with it :D

I wish all NZ was this green, not mountains of sund dunes, but point the camera in the right direction, you can still get nice photos!

I love the clarity and how sharp the details are in the distance.. I'm starting to think this might be something FSX does better.

After our hop to Blenheim we jumped down to Queenstown. I changed planes and flew off the enjoy the views, thanks for looking at my post!

If anyone has any questions, sorry if I don't answer them for a few days, I'm off to Nelson for the weekend.
Thanks

When you say workmate- did you go on multiplayer, in a cessna, on the B738 sim at Christchurch Mall? That would have been odd I guess...?

Anyhow, brilliant pictures, even though you don't have too many addons, FSX still looks sweet

Flight Experience doesn't pay the bills unfortunately, so this was just online multiplayer at home with my workmate from my real day job :)

Lovely shots there dude.

Am a newbie to NZFF so just feeling my way around.
I missed the server on Thursday too...I couldnt find it on the list?
Have hosted a few here in Brunei but the scenery sucks in comparison with yours down there.

Markels65.

p.s. was with some Kiwi mates tonight who were on about a Hangi for Anzac day...only 25 bucks if you're interested!
Though something tells me the flight to Brunei might add a bit to that initial cost. B)

it's often listed as having a -1 ping, so it's hard to spot
it's under free flight, try arranging the servers by name and scroll down to NZFF

It wasn't too bad James, I actually found it worked better in 3d cockpit than 2d, I guess the size of the screen is smaller than in 2d? My new computer is making all the difference I think :)

oh yes, the 3d panels are far easier to fly with, especialy if your vfr, ms have made all the 2d panels quite nasty, they seem to have a really restricted feild of view and unless you have a ridiculosy large monitor you only get a few centimeters of clear view out the windsheild. Are they tring to make us hate the 2d panel? :o I wouldn't be suprised if there were no 2d panels in fs11..

Also the fps seem smother in 3d panel, although thats not excatly true it certainy does seem it, I wouldn't have the fainstest clue why
