One thing Robin's scenery has done for FS is create Vatsim traffic. I am currently flying ex AA to WN (with the old Wellington, but it's on its way!) and note most of the traffic is also headed there. A few nights ago it was also busy but not all going to Wellington. Thanks, Robin :)

And here are the pics of my trip...

Jetstar 717-200 Freeware from Jet City Aircraft (Direct link to download page - here scroll down to 717-200)

Nice early morning start in Auckland. Minimal wind and clear skies.

Not long afterbeing told to track direct to New Plymouth

Nearing NP, looking pretty messy ahead

Turning to intercept ILS RW16 nearing Titahi NDB, very windy too. Wind on landing was 35 knots from 190. Not quite crosswind but the plane was up and down like a yo yo on short final so no screenies taken (no way was I going to switch to external view just for a pic )

What Auckland scenery is that?

The scenery is "auckland_real_nz_airports.zip" from AV SIm, by Deane Baunton, Savern Reweti, Shayne Butler & Rob Diebold.

Welll, I have built a fence/gate around the balcony, modified the dog kennel, just been at Ferguson Park for an hour with the dog and daughter had 5 of her mates over yesterday and today for her 13th b'day... so in all I haven't spent much time on FS :P

Thanks for sharing those screenies Matt, I did not even know Jetstar operated 717's, are they the old Qantas ones? And do they ever fly to NZ or is that an a320 only route?

These orginally would have been the IMPLUSE airline 71's - they were only 2 days old sittin on the ramp at sydney during 2001 my airport tour . I'm not sure of the QANTAS history .

According to JetStar's website they only fly in and out of CHCH in NZ. All trips are in the A320 AFAIK.

The JetCity 717 was mentioned on another forum as a favourite plane and being free I thought I would try it out. JetStar livery was the closest in the free download to anything we normally see here in NZ so that's why I chose it :D

It's not a bad girl to fly

the 717s were almost new when jetstar got them, built in 2001. inherited from qantas, now phased them out in favour of A320s

Thanks for the links, I had no idea that 717's were still in production, they look so old...

Actually they aren't in production anymore, the last one was built last year I think, so they were until recently. They weren't ever a great success for Boeing and I always thought it didn't really make sense to have an aircraft that was essentially competing with the 737 series.
