Hi, I was given a warm welcome, so I had a play with my P51. Don't all shout at once if you already have it ;)

This is "work in progress", but far enough ahead to tease you guys.

Enjoy

It's the "Wings of Power" P51 D / H

Nice model, but the air file and the sound files could do with jollying up a bit - even if WoP do say it's real ;)

A tuned "race" version is probably a bit pokier than the original.

It should be ready this week - possibly on Avsim tomorrow with luck - and with the owner's blessing. I have sent the "kiwithunder.com" people an e-mail with my intentions.

Hi Chris , Will Check WOP51 out , Private Warbirds , nice way to get around scenery without "SLEW"! ..

I used to prefer the ALPHASIM P51, and it is still very good.
But then WOP upgraded theirs, and it is absolutely the Mustang of choice.
Sure fire way to get blurries in the scenery, all right.
Good choice, and a nice looking livery you're doing, Chris!

Beauty Cbris!

I see the ole' kiwithunder down at Ardmore quite regually, and would love to see it on fs2004!

Is this "Wings of Power" P51 model freeware or payware? I have never seen it before but it looks stunning!

Here are some "screenshots" I took of her in real life ;)

Payware - sorry.

www.simmarket.com is where you can get this (if that suffers a "browser block" you can always type in secure.simmarket.com

Ah jeez Chris, why'd you have to go and do that? I'm in love!!!!!!!! Speechless - great stuff! Now, how long until someone releases a "proper" Papa-51 for FS?

Is there any remote chance that it possibly may work on Roger Dial's "Reno" 'stang? Even if not, you've absolutely made my day! Fantastic!

Ermmmm, guys, perhaps I should confess a little...

The "Thunder Mustang" is a 3/4 scale replica with modern technology. Oh, and two seats

So my skin is a bit of "reverse" painting - i.e. skinning a warbird to look modern.

The only way for this skin to work on any other plane is for that plane to use an identical image. Right down to the last pixel position. Sorry.

I'll do any paint if I have the model. I won't go and buy a plane just to do a paint, but... I could be "pursuaded" as long as the "target" has a half way decent paint kit.

I don't do "tubes" as a rule, as I don't fly them either. Big, nasty, ugly things that they are ;) (hey, I know, I work for Airbus and these tubes pay for my hobby  ) But I do do fictional stuff when I have a feel for it. Like this (note the well known phrase or saying in this sequence  ) (still work in progress)

Have you tried the Wings of Power P51? Very "very" to say the least. But you do, you really do, have to RTFM to fly her. All those accurate power settings ARE needed to do a real take off and have a "proper" flight. Like all "performace" planes, the 51 is twitchy and stalls easy for a noob - far too easy, one would think. The number of times a "WoP" plane has dropped me from several thousand feet and not recovered...

You just can't yank any real world plane's stick back into your guts and hope all will go well. The sudden move is: a. difficult because of the wind resistance and stick back pressure (you'd need to be a beefy person I guess) and b. if you did, the sudden move could well kill a good air flow over the wings at the wrong speed.

One of the better warbirds has just got to be the RealAir Simulations Spitfire though... pick a nice windy river in mountainous terrain - and follow it as close to the water as possible - don't forget to have crash detection on... ;)

Haven't tried the P51 in my "local" favourite trip yet (along the Moselle valley in Germany), but I guess you guys must have somewhere similar in New Zealand?

Ciao 4 niao

Well, here's the plot:
Pick a winter's day with marginal visibility and 15 knot southerly, jump in a P51, and make a normal westerly approach to Milford Sound :o

Ah, I still haven't seen the Thunder Mustang on AVSIM - did I blink?

Yeah, but seeing her in the flesh, she's a sprightly performer. I;m hoping that at some point someone will model a Thunder Mustang for FS (probably FSX) - compared to the real P-51, the Thunder Mustang in some respects has a better performance. And she's cute as a button, too! B) B) Also, I;m hoping one day to see Kiwi Thunder and one (or both!) of our Mustangs fly together. Imagine that...

Well, looks as though when I can afford it, I must buy not only a Yak-3 but the WoP P-51D too! Damn you Chris, you cunning artiste you! :D

Darn! I almost forgot! KiwiThunder has been uploaded to Avsim along with a couple of other paints I have done recently - just go to Avsim and go to the files library - search under my name - Chris Brisland - OK, so I have uploaded more than just the few skins shown here, but what the heck - a spot of "self plugging" doesn't hurt, no? ;)

Or just search Kiwi Thunder... :D
