The wording behind the banner is....

"Ad astra per aspera" is a Latin phrase meaning "to the stars through hardships" or "through difficulties to the stars". This inspirational motto signifies that great achievements often require overcoming significant challenges. The phrase can also be written as "per aspera ad astra" and serves as the official motto for various organizations, including the state of Kansas, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force."

Thank you Ai

Very nice... a triple point tanker is somewhat unique in the USAF ANG.
I'd hazard a guess and say that with the problems that still haven't been solved with the KC-46 Pegasus, the 135s will still be around for a while.
High tech is good but low tech is even better....just my view :)

Not to mention the RAF's Per Ardua ad Astra (Through Adversity to the Stars) which started all this Latino stuff :D

Nice shot - another Boeing from the previous era whose successor is crap, as Simon ponts out.
KC-46 on top of all its previous programme issues has been stopped because of wing cracking, I read.

Apart from the B-52, they are the oldest aircraft in the US Air Force, older than I am myself...
