It's a great looking aircraft....and useful too.

The C5 Galaxy is coming back to Auckland. Arrives at Whenuapai on Sat but I'm not sure of the time. Probably during the AB/SA rugby test -_-

Impressive size, handling is an experience in itself. The C-17 is also a familiar sight here in Germany.

Here's a little trivia that turned up unsolicited on my phone.
The C-17 is quite unsymmetrical: the RHS sponson is substantially longer than the other side!
Stands to reason actually, airliners have the APU in the tail and RAT in the hold - on this bird you need all the load area you can get, and there's a ramp in the tail.
These go in the undercarriage fairing, then.
Just quite why it all went in the one side isn't clear, but there would be good cause for this I imagine.

Perhaps I should start paying attention to what I think about in front of the phone :unsure:
