India... will be my MiG playground. I have just installed Srinagar and other bases of the Indian Air Force and will get back to the Mig 21bis and if it works out with that, the MiG 25... which has been standing in the hangar for decoration until now.

Wondering if you can do mach 3.0 in that famous or infamous MIG-25 Foxbat. I remember that some Russian pilot defected to a free country with his MIG-25 Foxbat. I forgot which country but I think it was Japan.

There was exactly one known case of desertion with a MiG-25: the Soviet pilot Viktor Belenko flew his MiG-25 to Japan in 1976 and asked for political asylum there. Wiktor Iwanowitsch Belenko Виктор Иванович Беленкo)

Oh cool, Indian Migs!
When I was painting the MiG-21, I discovered the Indian Air Force had some wild paintschemes for exercises:

@yankees: The paintings are indeed striking. I haven't seen them on fligfhtsim.to. A hint where I can find them and they will come to new honors, I promise. In the last few days I have plundered flightsim.to... and will be flying a little more often in India than before.
@ Aharon: In 1976 I was on the other side and was shocked. It may be of interest that the deserter has since died a natural death in the USA, and the death penalty imposed on him in the USSR was never lifted.

Did he happen to fall out of a high hotel window?

@cowpatz
I asked ChatGPT about Viktor Belenko, the pilot who defected to Japan with his MiG-25 back in 1976.He actually passed away peacefully in the USA in 2023 at the age of 76. No accident, no conspiracy. He lived in the States, worked as a consultant, and later kept a low profile.
Of course, the CIA took full advantage of his MiG for intelligence – a classic Cold War story.

Fine work. I have looked a little further. Another painting... very simple and conventional cries out for a use. the machine from Madagascar...
