Ian Warren very generously gave me the FS9 Alphasim T-6 Havard set as a gift, which I installed this morning, along with some brilliant NZ Warbird 'Roaring 40s' paintjobs by Charl. With the recorder module, I took #53 and #57 up for a formation flight from Wigram (Ian's brilliant scenery) which was quite a lot of fun. Also, I must say that the Alphasim sound package that comes with this addon is absolutely amazing- knocks the socks off Marcel Kuhnt's impressive BN Islander rumbles, and really makes the beast come alive in flight!

Here are 13 screenshots I took, (1.70mb)

A HUGE thanks to Ian for this rather unexpected gift- I am enjoying it very much :clap: :cheers: :thumbup: :D

Also, does anyone know how to get the display smoke system working? I hit 'I' but it doesn't change the exhaust smoke that trails already, and flipping the switches in the VC don't seem to have any affect either...?

AARGH! you would pick the one paint (53) with the wing Kiwi looking askance at the pilot, instead of eye affixed to the horizon!
Jenks will have a fit.
Revised texture is in the mail, you'll just have to fly this again mate :unsure:
Trolly there's a cfg line that needs changing for smoke.
Look in the [lights] section and remove the // comment lines according to the colour you want to see.

[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, -1.33, -20.90, -0.63, fx_navred
light.1 = 3, -1.33, 20.90, -0.63, fx_navgre
light.2 = 4, -0.50, 0.00, 2.20, fx_vclight
light.3 = 4, -4.50, 0.00, 2.20, fx_vclight
light.4 = 7, -2.53, -20.60, -0.63, fx_ALPHA_T6_WTVortices
light.5 = 7, -2.53, 20.60, -0.63, fx_ALPHA_T6_WTVortices
light.6 = 9, 3.40, 0.20, 0.45, fx_ALPHA_T6_ExhFlames
//light.7 = 8, -5.00, 2.20, -1.00, fx_ALPHA_T6_DSw
//light.8 = 1, -5.00, 2.20, -1.00, fx_ALPHA_T6_DSr
//light.9 = 10, -5.00, 2.20, -1.00, fx_ALPHA_T6_DSb

So for white smoke:
light.7 = 8, -5.00, 2.20, -1.00, fx_ALPHA_T6_DSw

...and now for the funny bit... '53 does have the wing kiwis facing the wrong way on the real aircraft :lol:

I think they actually face backwards on the real thing. Have to check out some reference when I get a minute.

To be honest, I'm not all that worried about the kiwi's facing the wrong way. I do like my sim aircraft looking as realistic as possible, but I'm happy with them facing the way they are on most other airforce planes :)

.. great little Forum u created

And Ian, I really am quite flattered. I don't really deserve your gift as all I did was set up a template, it is all you guys who have filled it with posts who I should be thanking! Happy Birthday to you Ian, and thanks for your mailed textures too:

Well, whatever blows your hair back...
Guess there is no Universal Law governing Harvards in NZ.
And I really like your last shot, it has a sense of something about to happen.
The aircraft in a shallow dive to pick up airspeed, you just know it's going to DO something off the wall.
(That's what Harvarding does for me)
New verb: Harvard: to strap on old stuff and hoon around

OK, so now we've sorted the Kiwis... how about putting the texture on a Harvard... all the screenies show the texture applied to a T6, or is it an SNJ :P

Jenks...we're all just playing around, waiting for you to spring the $$ for the Harvard, and paint the definitive Kiwi fleet >nzflag<

Edit: Turns out, half the NZ Harvard fleet are disguised T6's :ph43r:

:lol: :lol: well... the kiwi dollar is really strong at present... now if only I can get the purchase past my financial director... otherwise known as my wife ;)

I've got to say that the paints already available are enough to convince me that I NEED to purchase the Harvard.

But I am busy repainting some special things at the moment for a secret project :ph43r:

I've heard little whisperings about this, it's not related to the military at all is it? :o

Here are a few more shots overhead REAL NZ Auckland in the Harvard. The early morning light and Real Enviroment Pro sky textures make for a beautiful combination:

I hate to break the news to you guys but the RNZAF Harvards never had the spinners on them, nor did they have the little blister behind the cockpit. These were on the T6s only.

Aaaarghhh
OK never fear one of these days Jenks' missus will let him off the credit card leash and then you guys'll see something totally authentic!
(See post above in this topic, Jenks beat you to it)
Right down to Kiwis facing the wrong way :blink:
Meantime we're just having a lotta fun B-)

Hahaha, didnt even see that post, I was showing the pics to my old man and he pointed it out. I swallowed my pride and bought the thing, it is actually quite good fun. Much better than previous Alphasim releases.
