Steve Jenks has made me glad again that I purchased the Carenado Cessna 206, when he produced an absoulty amazing paintjob for ZK-DOV of Mountain Air.

Today I took it up for a spin over Tongariro National Park (inspired by this post), starting in Turangi, heading south over Lake Rotoaira and Mount Ngauruhoe, up to Ruapehu's infamous crater lake, then down to land at the Chateau. I usually have Robin Corn's excellent photoreal textures installed for the area, but today I de-activated them to see what RBE's mesh and topo had to offer. Here are 16 screenshots I took:

Nice shots! I'm gonna have another go at purchasing this craft tonight, last time it didn't work (they updated their site layout drastically the next morning, thats probably why)

Thanks Brock and James.

I can run FS, but can't see any image in the loading screen or save/load a previous flight. When I exit FS, the screen goes crazy and I have to restart. Also, my joystick is twitching all over the place...

BTW, I assume Chateau not AFCAD'd? Could you show us a pic of it, perhaps from finals or overhead?

Yep, it's an AFCAD but also included as a grass strip with the RBE topo package. The Chateau model was a private release by 'Creator2003' a while ago.

I assue the file came with one of the GNZLAP's, as in the 1st screenie, at 5000ft, you can see a Mountain Air BN-2 Islander coming into land, and I think this is where it parks. Charl would be able to confim.

Yes it is a GNZLAP AFCAD, they tend to have those huge dirt areas around the runway.
Can't see it in Trolly's screenshots but because of the downhill fall, it makes a huge cliff on the far side.
Thought it better looking if it wasn't just the strip that stuck out. B)

:whoops: On my first landing, I flared too late and touched down about 1/2 way down the strip. I tried slowing down as much as possible, but in the end, I accelerated off that cliff, climbed up again and went around for a 2nd landing!

Glad you got the Carenado 206 Brock. It looks so so good in the DOV paint huh?

If you'd like to do some formation flying in the C206's sometime online (default fs2004 multiplayer), just PM me ;)
