NZFF June 2017 Screenshot Competition

The June competition is now open!
NOTE: We now have TWO VOTES (one in each of TWO POLLS): One in the *visual appeal* poll and one in the *relevance* to the theme poll.
The two votes can go to the same entry or to different ones.
The winner in the "relevance" poll gets the sponsored prize and gets to suggest a theme for the next screencomp, whilst the winner in the "visual appeal" poll gets to have their banner displayed for the following month.

The June theme is: "High wing" ... chosen by BobL (winner of the April competition) - if you have any theme-related queries, send him a PM!
Image
This month's competition is kindly sponsored by Milviz. The winner will receive a download of their choice from the excellent Milviz Product Range.

SCHEDULE
Images can be submitted up until midnight Friday 30th June.
Images can be edited up until 11pm Friday 30th June.
Voting runs from Saturday 1st July up until midnight Wednesday 5th July.

Please read the rules below: if you have any queries, please PM Comp Admin for clarification **before posting your entry**.

    ELIGIBILITY
  1. Entry (and voting) for the competition is open to all registered NZFF members.

    THE SCREENSHOT
  2. The screenshot image must consist of a screen captured from a flight simulator program (FS2004, FSX, P3D, X-plane, DCS/IL-2 or War Thunder).
  3. Some editing is allowed: additional images can be added (either real or other screenshots), but the main component of the image should always be from a flight sim.

    IMAGE FORMAT
  4. The images can be jpg or png and must be EXACTLY 1280px wide (any depth).
  5. Though "visual appeal" is all about the complete screenshot image, bear in mind that (if it wins that poll), the final banner crops to around 1200px * 380px (max) - which is quite a narrow letter-box shape - so try to compose your shot so as not to lose areas of high interest.
  6. No frames or text on the image.
  7. Keep the original uncompressed/high resolution version (BMP or TIFF) saved on your PC - admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!
  8. DCS users may want to look at these tips.

    SUBMITTING AN ENTRY
  9. Please post all screenshot/entries here - in this topic.
  10. Only one entry/single image per member is allowed.
  11. Images can changed any time up until 1 hour before the closing time: use the "edit" button at the top of the original post, delete the old image link and replace it with the new one.
  12. If possible, please add details of the aircraft depicted and general scenery/location information.

    VOTING
  13. After the competition entry deadline, all registered NZFF members may cast TWO votes: one for visual appeal and one for relevance to the theme.
The two votes can both go to the same entry or to different ones - but you must vote in BOTH polls.
  14. Entrants may not vote on their own screenshots (!).
  15. Voting runs for five days after the entry deadline.
  16. The winner in the "relevance" poll receives the prize from the designated sponsor and gets to suggest a theme for the next screencomp.
  17. The winner in the "visual appeal" poll will have a cropped version of their image posted as the NZFF banner for the following month.

That's it, folks - get snapping!

Adam.

Nice shot, Bob - it's kind of fitting that the previous winner gets to post the first shot!

Image changed ... now it's a Lysander somewhere near Dover!

Don't look like the Grey River to me looks more like the Upper Taramakau River South of Greymouth and just North of the Otira Arthurs Pass highway.

 cheers, Doug - I'm a stranger there meself. The coords on the shot said S42º 32.52' E171º 58.13' and that was as close as I could get with my trusty Hema NZ Touring Atlas.

BobL and I went to an airshow at Ardmore today - and spent the whole day "spotting" the high-wing variants! That's definitely a "room with a view", Rob!

@emfrat - I'm intrigued by the TSR2 - where did you find it?

I was poking around the UKMIL site and came across this in the Club Members Only files:
"This is a replacement panel for the Kaz Ito TSR.2, to enable the aircraft to function in FSX".
and I took that as a recommendation of Ito-San's visual model over the Alphasim one.

The plane is on flightsim, filename tsr2_219.zip

Not perfect, but it's the only one in town...

Just over 90 years ago.

At 7:52 A.M., May 20, 1927 Charles Lindbergh gunned the engine of the "Spirit of St Louis" and aimed her down the dirt runway of Roosevelt Field, Long Island. Heavily laden with fuel, the plane bounced down the muddy field, gradually became airborne and barely cleared the telephone wires at the field's edge. No sleep for the 33 hour trip & had a thermos & a sandwich.

I've often wondered why they wallpapered over the windscreen, LOL!

I read his autobiography (amazing!!) - and seem to remember that he didn't even eat that sandwich!!

A classic shot, BTW!
