Hi ladies and Germs
I finally got round to installing the RBE 75m mesh, and decided to take a few passengers for a scenic flight from Glenorchy to Queenstown for a reasonable fee )


The sun rising over the hills, creating a pleasant shine on our quite modern Cessna.


The initial climb out of GY


Passing the field at low level on the left.



We're now heading south along the lake of Wakatipu My plan is to head up the Von river for a look around.


Heading into the Von River area.


Apparently down south they have rivers that go up hill as well as down!


This here is pasture hill


And that is Mt Nicholas. The passengers were impressed at my local knowledge.


Now heading west to Queenstown Intl, here are some mountains including walter peak and Afton peak.

Looks like a good opportunity to go straight in, but the wind says no.


Downwind at NZQN. It's a nice morning.


Finals


On approach. I'm using 20 degrees of flap, no need for 30 with this long runway, and besides the flare is less 'flat'.


We're down.


With permission of NZQN tower, we went to the end of the grass runway and took this pic.

Nice stuff, those mountains look much better than default eh?

I take it those where from fs2004? If so, there is addon airport and photoreal scenery available at avsim for it.

Of course, now that you've nibbled at the scenery thing, RBE topo awaits, which will sort out the funny lake edges and other quirks.
And, of course, as Trolly points out, there is Peter Lohr's very nice (but frame-hungry) NZQN, complete with paragliders over Queenstown.

is this a updated version of queenstown as i am keen on adding it to fsx
also where can i download this

Yeh man FS2004, however I'm trying to go without as much scenery addons as possible, because of the associated loading times.

There are one or 2 issues with FSX I believe but nothing serious - get it from the ARNZ site.

Paragliders? Now those I haven't seen yet! Where are they hiding?
