I'm not sure they can, but then again I've never tried. It's an aid for missions, it helps you guide you to your goals.

Hehe, you're right jimmy. I think it's a landclass issue, where the default landclass specified different types of water close to eachother. In FS9 from what I know there is only one type of water.

Oh well.

Anyone know what that grey tearing is about?

I take it this is using he default NZAAand the default Auckland area scenery?

the waitakeries are nothing like that colour - they should be a dark green bush covering.

also the area on approach to NZAA is TOTALLY wrong - the area is mostly farm land and markt garden within about 2nm and Wiroa island just south of the runway is where the pimary radar is located and only has a few building located around the southern edge - it is part of the fenced off security area.

The tearing?, do you have an ATI video card? I have found this in other games that my ATI card misenterprets some 3D objects from certain angles and you get that exact effect.

I'm using totally default scenery in FSX (I'm not sure if fs04 scenery works in FSX or not), anyone know?

And yeah, I have an ATi RAdeon 9600XT. Any way to fix the tearing?

Thanks for sharing Monkey, its nice to see what FSX has to offer.

IMO, the landclass and clouds really suck compared to FS9, but perhaps its something to do with peoples settings. I am just judging from all the preview screenies I have seen so far ;)

Although NZAA is meant to be a high detailed airport, they have really only done a few custom buildings around an AFCAD. This is what the approach looks like in real life:

(Just remembered that you already know this ;) )

As for the tearing, I remember getting something similar to that way back with Grand Theft Auto. A simple nVIDIA video card driver fixed that problem for me.

(I'm not sure if fs04 scenery works in FSX or not)

My my, MS certainly did some work with FSX then... Looking good there, the airports better than the default fs9 one :ph43r:

I am seriously considering buying fsx when I get my new computer. I just cant handle watching everyone else having fun while I arent

yes a driver update may fix it but my official fix was to get an NVidia 7800 GS

I had this alot with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and it seems to be down to having more detail than the card can handle so also try reducing ur detail.

To be quite honest I really dont think fsx is worth buying yet, I believe people are using it for novelty purposes but at the end of the day they get far more out of FS9 still, this is why me and my group will not be specificly targeting FSX development yet.

Well, I'd describe FSX as more screenshot friendly, and with more direction. FS9 is fine, but it doesn't have some of the Polish that FSX has.
