This is why I love Flight Simulator.

You can take a spin over your home city at sunset, cruise around for as long as your want, and take in the amazing view, all from the comfort of your own home.

The next 9 pictures use Photoreal Auckland City from REALNZ and Carenado's Piper Cherokee 180F, both payware. All I can say is you certainly get what you pay for... ;) ...and don't just take my word for it, let the screenies do the talking:

(9 pics to load, 1430KB, #8 is my favourite)

Nice shots there mate! yes I agree with your fav one. Tell me, what performace do you get with the Real NZ Auckland scenery? It seems to chug away a bit on my PC, but other areas (such as the new Tauranga) are ok. I have fps set at 22, and even if it goes to say 17 it's ok, but over Auckland it gets too low.

What settings do you use as far as autogen and scenery density go?

Nice shots, it's great that we're able to get scenery upgrades like this to make the experience so much more enjoyable!

Thanks for the comments.

I have a fairly low spec PC but I still manage to get around 15-23fps around Auckland. There are two key ways to getting your performance up around the city of sails though:

1) If you are using REALNZ Auckland, go into your FS9/Addon Scenery/AucklandCity/scenery and find the file "fs2004westhaven.bgl". Delete it or rename it to another extension like "fs2004westhaven.remove" and you will get much greater performance over all of Auckland, as this file is to blame for all the tiny fps-hugging boats in West Haven Marina. Trust me, this makes a big difference!

2) Move your AI traffic slider down, the more heavies coming into NZAA, the more framerates you loose.

Hope this helps ;)

Is it correct that a 2.4ghz celaron doesn't perform as well as a 2.4ghz pentium 4 ?
