HI all
There is a big charity bike ride from kariotahi to Whitianga on the 21st of March.
its a $25 entry fee with a $10 breakfast if you want it. Money is being donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand.
The route will be much the same as for last year, departing at Karioitahi Beach on the West Coast and finishing at Buffalo Beach at Whitianga. The Karioitahi Surf Lifesaving Club will be providing a full cooked breakfast at a modest price for early arrivals and plenty of hot morning coffee will be available for those who may require an early morning shot of caffeine prior to departure.
Compulsory check-points will be at Tahuna, Paeroa and Tairua. Riders should plan to arrive at Paeroa early so as to allow plenty of time to enjoy lunch at the Paeroa Wild Food, Wine and Art Festival. Free entry to this event is included with your registration fee so get there early and enjoy the show. Ample parking will be provided in the domain with plenty of security in place so you may leave your bikes, leathers etc. and wander around the festival at your leisure.
Plan to arrive at the beach at Karioitahi from about 8.00 am onwards - we will have all the bikes departing for Whitianga no later than 10.00 am.
A prize giving ceremony commencing sharply at 4.30 pm will be held at the Mercury Bay Club and riders are invited to stay on after the prize giving and enjoy a meal and an evening of fellowship with friends both new and old. A live band will be there to entertain until late so plan to stay overnight in Whitianga if you can and join us for a great night.
