While I'm posting ......

Targa Rotorua is a weekend event based around Rotorua and the Waikato, held on 13 and 14 June.
2009 Dunlop Targa is the big one, starting on Sunday 25 October (Labour Weekend) in Auckland and finishing Saturday 31 October in Wellington.

Timing crew are always welcome, and also I'm in the market for an offsider for my official (speed gun) vehicle.

What I'm looking for -
- can read on the move without getting car sick
- can read maps
- can read a rally road book would be nice but can be learned fairly easily on the job
- not dyslexic, and tidy writing
- comfortable with using or learning to use a Garmin 60Cx GPSr as a trip computer
- ok with talking on a radio

It normally works out that the only cost to me and my offsider is our food, Targa give an assistance package that covers the rest. There is also an assistance package for Timing Crews but what it covers is up to the individual Post Chiefs.

Anyone potentially keen ?

Cheers
Gary

Just a bit of an update to this one :

Targa Rotorua looks pretty well covered but the details for the main Targa in October have changed a bit.

The thinking is now that I'll be given a campervan and there will be two speed gun crews travelling in it. Me and the 14yo have got one covered, now I'm vaguely on the lookout for two people to make up the other crew. Can be two from here, one from here plus a mate, whatever ... Accommodation will be at holiday parks, two in the camper and two in a cabin. Targa will be covering the campervan / accommodation cost, and most of the fuel.

The requirements for navigation and radio have gone out the window, the only requirements now really are that you like the idea of heavily subsidised spectating at tarmac rallies, you can manage to feed yourself for a week, and that someone in the second team can write legibly to keep the log tongue.gif Having a reliable vehicle available in case the campervan doesn't happen would be a nice bonus.

The rally starts labour weekend in Auckland and finishes the following weekend in Wellington which puts it fairly close to the school exam season.

Keep it in mind ...

Gary
