Hiya

We're looking at how cheaply we could do a trip down to the stockcar teams weekend in Palmy on the 6th and 7th of Feb.

Does anyone have a lawn we could throw a (4 metres square) tent up on for the Friday and Saturday nights ? We'd prefer something out of sight of the road, and walking distance to the stadium would be awesome but that's probably pushing it a bit - anywhere in Palmy or Fielding or about that far away would be fine.

There will be me and my mate and maybe a youngun (13) or two, and we're not rowdy pisshead speedway fans, we're respectable geocachers and flightsim/flying types thumbup1.gif

Thanks
Gary

If you get no luck here, try these guys, they are all stock car nutters, and there's a fair few palmy locals their.

I have 2 of your requirements, the walking to the stadium part i cant furfill

We'd really rather not stay with stock car nutters. Did that last weekend at Rotovegas, I don't think we really want another weekend like that so soon ... I'm sure I could find somewhere really easily by asking on ksr or macgors, but yeah ... stockcar people seem to have a higher percentage of ummmm 'characters' than other groups. And most of them seem to drink like fishes.

Two out of three is pretty good and we'll be out and about all day playing with the gps so driving to the track is neither here nor there. How far away are you - still in Palmy ?

Cheers
Gary

Sorry mate I can't assist that weekend as I'm out of town. Will keep the ears to the ground for you though.

We live in ashhurst, bout 15 mins from palmy, quiet and peaceful. If you wanna forgo the tent, we have a nice sized garage with no vehicles in it, so there's space for beds and your gear and its secure.

You can also park off the road when you get in.

We are probably going ourselves, not 100% sure yet - will have to clear it with the boss lady.

Good to see compassion still alive and well in NZFF.

Good on ya Mate.

Nah it's more that others have done the same for us in the past (and in future hopefully) and we finally can return some of the 'karma', or at least offer.

Ron, sounds great ! Just need to confirm that my mate is actually coming, so I don't get stuck with all the petrol bill, and we're there with bells on :-)

Many thanks
Gary

Hi Ron

Turns out my mate wasn't able to make it (some lame excuse about organising the stag do for his brothers wedding that weekend) but I'm still working on getting there - looking like just me and one of the younguns at this stage.

Cheers
Gary

Just a quick public Thank You to Ron and Mrs Ron for their hospitality, and sorry if we kept you awake on Sat night - if I'd realised how much noise was getting out of the garage I'd have killed the lights a couple of hours earlier. That's embarrassing, sorry icon_redface.gif

The best cat pictures are on their way to you via email.

On the way back up on Sunday afternoon the boys asked us whether we had really seriously not seen the helicopter laugh.gif

Cheers
Gary
