I just heard on the news about the Gol Airlines Flight 1907 in Brazil.

After a quick search of the net, all I could find was this:

Date:  September 29, 2006
Time: 16:50
Location:  Near Sao Felix do Araguaia , Brazil
Operator:  Gol Airlines
Flight: 1907
AC Type:  Boeing B-737-8EH
Reg:  PR-GTD
cn: 34653/2039
Aboard:  155
Fatalities: 155
Ground: 0
Route:  Manaus - Brasilia
Details:  The flight disappeared from radar at 16:50 after leaving Manaus at 15:35, scheduled to arrive at Brasilia at 18:12. While en route the jetliner collided with an Embraer ERJ-135 business jet. The Embraer was able to land safely at Serra de Cachimbo with a damaged wing and tail.

Anyone got any further details? A mid air crash between a 737 and an Embaer is quite unbelievable. Don't they have ATC in Brazil?

yeah, very sad
Brand new aircraft too (737-800)- Gol said its jet had been delivered by Boeing Co. just three weeks ago, and had been flown for only 200 hours.

an absolute miracle too that one of the aircraft managed to land safely too. but like you, i cannot fathom how two modern aircraft can collide in mid air...
