Ok there's Flight Simulator

And we've all heard of Train Simulator

Ship Simulator, a bit over the top (in my opinion)

But this,

BUS SIMULATOR!!!!, come on when's the maddness going to stop?!?!

Different things for different people I guess. Diesel fumes and buses don't do it for me, however I don't know about you guys but many times I mention Flight Sim to others they just cannot see the appeal in what we enjoy.

Those not into PCs or gaming cannot think of anything more boring than sitting in front of a PC for hours on end recreating a real life flight ("you mean you play 'pilot' on that computer the same length of time as it takes to actually fly there, you may as well do something useful with your time, like actually fly there, in real life!!"). Other's, into gaming (even aviation like combat sims), but not flight sim, see MSFS as nothing more than bus driving anyway, but what's worse is there's no passengers.

What's the first thing most newbies to MSFS do when they get a chance to have a play? Fire up a 747 and head for the biggest building they can to see what happens if they hit it usually lol.

Now we all know how thrilling MSFS can get, but not everyone shares the same enthusiasm, maybe one day there will be a 'paint-drying' sim, then we will have something to laugh at.

Haha I lived in Tokyo for a bit too...didnt play that one but saw it at a few parlours haha..

I guess you have to ask yourself "where is this all heading?"....The answer seems to be some sort of massive online world where people are all doing a range of things (i.e. Train sim, flight sim, sim city, war sims, football games etc etc all rolled into one virtual world)....the ultimate answer is something akin to the Matrix I guess?

Ya know in Armed assault there is actually the ability to add a bus and a bus schedule which is used in the start of the campaign. If you don't like waiting you can always drive your own.

I gotta agree - different horses for different courses. I do so much driving that the thought of coming home and doing more of it just doesn't appeal to me. Though, when I was 13 or 14 and wanted to drive but was too young, this might have appealed. That's why simming is so important to me - since I can't really fly in real life (for a range of reasons). Maybe if I did, i wouldn't be so hung up on it.

Funny thing is, when I was younger I really wanted a ship simulator. I don't think I had thought the whole 'realtime' thing through though!

IMHO, the finest example of 'some get it, some don't' is in ATC sims. They reproduce some quite intense stress, which some wouldn't understand. Plus, they appear really' boring' to an outsider and since the targets move so slowly on the radar, it seems impossible that it can be stressful. Oh for an ATC sim with sectors of NZ with NZ traffic. Dream on.
