Its lapped Northern Nurburgring in 7:30- peaked at 2 G of cornering force, 1.8G under brakes....what a beast. Not the prettiest car but then again, GTRs never have been.

Awesome power but the R35 looks no where as good as the old R33!

i think the r 34 was the best looking, and man could those things haul ass, they felt quicker to drive than the subarus and lancers, just my 2c worth

Nissan Skylines are a fast car.

My partner has a nissan skyline R34. One fast lady in that.

I watched those vids last night as well as some other ones..... the Yanks managed to get a 3.2 sec sprint to 100km/h out of it!

Faster than a GT3, Faster than a 911 turbo, Faster than a M3, Faster than a Corvette, Faster than a Veyron around the Nurburgring......and half the price of those cars.

An amazing piece of automotive engineering.

AND! The V-Spec version is coming out soon which will be lighter, more powerful and have carbon ceramic brakes (which considering it outbrakes the Porches which have CC brakes but is still using steel disks is pretty impressive)

Yeah, i love Gran Turismo's Nurburgring. Whenever i bought a new car i would ring it out around and collect all the times then compare. It is such an awesome track, the speed is phenomenal down the last straight sections.

Watching Michael Vergers record lap on youtube makes me want to have a go again tonight!

Fast Skyline's are some of my favourite Jap cars I have to admit!

Yes, its got a shed-load of power, but is it destined to become Nissan's NSX?

Frankly I love the looks of the NSX, and having had a quick blast in one I can say that they are an awesome drivers car, but largely underrated and almost forgotten these days. Mainly because it never related to any of Honda's bread and butter models...

The previous incarnations of the GTR (KPGC10, KPGC110, 20 year gap... R32, R33, R34) all had a direct link to the current Skyline model and almost everyone knows someone who either has or has had a Skyline of some spec (GTS, GTS-T, GTS-4...)

Where does this leave this new beast as far as consumer recognition?

hmm just read it needs major servcing at 100000km which requires the engine to be taken out..........................there are several 2008 GTRs on Trademe

Haha 100000km, Ferrari drivers are going to be so jelous!

You wont see much change from $10k for the 10,000km service in your new (1995-current) Ferrari... And thats assuming it needs nothing more than an oil and filter change, fresh set of plugs and coolant. Oh and some Nigel who gets to check the cars ECU , clear any error codes and re-flash the inspection interval node.

Damn need to be a gynocologist to do any of the above while the engine is in the car, so they have to drop the whole engine/transaxle out to do it (3hrs for removal + re-installation) So thats where you're dollars go...

At the end of the day, a major overhaul at 100,000km isnt that bad for a relatively small (3.8l) engine thats pumping out some very impressive figures
