Looks like we have some work to do with users avatars and smilies (that were hosted with the old board), so something to keep us on our toes. We'll get them sorted asap. ;)

So has the old board be deleted already?

P.S. I don't mind these icons...still easy to navigate through. If there are mixed views about an aspect of the forum, maybe a vote/poll should take place.

Not yet, but I'm not sure how long we'll be able to keep it online for. ;)

I'll set up a poll. Also, we have two skins here that came with the forum, use the drop-down box at the bottom to change between them, I'll see what I can do to get some more. ;)

The only downside is you can't start polls...

This is a setting that was carried over from the original board- I disabled them due to complaints... not sure when I will re allow them at the moment.

Yeah id have to say i like polls aswell but they get anoying if they are in every post ,they just need to be used properly and not abused i suppose ,i dont even think ive posted a poll ever out of 1200 posts + , they are informative sometimes with certian subjects,,
if abused the user can be ban from making polls cant they ???

Is not the poll itself that is the thing that is so anoying. The polls themself a fine, the thing is often a poll will end up being about some possibly contraversall issue, or they are so far off track to simming that the discussion gets way of track and eventuly get seen as problem, witch they are when that happens.

Just compare the poll for the screenshot compitition to the poll about who thinks who will win a war? Youl get all those members that don't really know a thing about simming congregate in the offtopic and chat about world events.. a new member that has had a passing interest in fs, or even worse someones thats trying to get their post count up, whats easier for them to post in, join in a good discusion about some fs thing, or go make some comment in an offtopic poll.

Take the poll away form the thread and what do you get "who should win the americas cup". Its not the poll its the topic that the poll is about. Got that? Its the topic not the poll. The poll itself really has no meaning anyway, the results are always going to be inacurate. Go, start a thread in the off topic talking about the latest war or what contravershal issue you saw on Cambel live last night, do it about 5 times and see how long before the admins are gettin complants and its a out of control long thread. ;)

After going threw my somewhat efficive yet proably greatly warpted procses of thinking, I say keep the polls. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against non flight sim discusion here, its great to see we can talk about something else every now and again. I think simply what the main problem was was certain members making silly amount of new threads at once. Good clean comman sense.

Couldn't agree more Jimmy alot of the Polls that were started were just boring drivvel that had no real topic or discussion interest and they often became as you said very "controversial" I agree we should keep the polls but if one pops up that is complete and utter rubbish it should be removed.

The thing is alot of them weren't pointless they were just such non-sense people wondered why they were started in the first place I don't really think its all that fair to place a complete ban on them just a bit more control on the cr@p ones to save precious forum space for more appropiate topics of discussion.

I say keep polls, however maybe have the need for moderator/admin approval before they are published or something? Otherwise just keep em and have the mods delete the silly ones. Some of them have been quite silly. Also, is there an option for us to turn off that image scaling thingy? Some people might like it but with my fast connection it's more of an annoyance than anything.

I say keep polls, but beat the cr@p out of anyone who starts one saying "What is your favourite cereal?" or "What internet browser are you using?" :D :ph43r:
