I really don't understand what goes up there with international mail.
Last month I ordered some stuff from London, it was dispatched within 24 hours.
It then went to Singapore, and on to AKL...This took 5 days (acceptable) .... but according to tracking data, its been sitting in AKL for 7 days now...
Its only a book for goodness sake.

Hah! A couple of weeks ago I ordered a replacement sim card for my Wireless Broadband modem. For some reason it had to come from Sydney. Anyway, it got to Brisbane overnight and then the fun started. Stuff arriving in Bris usually goes to Bundamba and from there overnight to Laidley, and reaches me next morning. Next day the tracker showed me it had gone to Torrington, 60km beyond Forest Hill. They sent it 10km back to Toowoomba, who promptly sent it back to Torrington. Two days later it went from Torrington back to Bundamba, and a day later it was in Laidley for delivery to me. By that time it had already passed near FH twice.
Eventually our nice postie Mel asked me to sign for an A4-sized padded bag. It held a short letter telling me how to activate the card and the card itself, which only appeared when I shook the bag upside-down and it fell out on the floor.
Telstra could have taped the card to the letter and stuck it in an envelope and sent it ordinary mail in half the time, for a fraction of the cost.

The other side of the coin:
I needed a WiFI extender, found it on the Jaycar website and drove to the shop nearby.
Uh uh.
The website? Oh not updated.
Later that Thursday night, clicked "Buy" on Amazon.AU.
Literally, nothing more.
Tuesday morning the courier dropped it at my front door.
Sure, they own me, all my habits, and my credit card number (Who knew?)
A small price to pay for service I think.
