Spotted this today....between 1130 and 1200.
No editing of the photos, no sight or sound of aircraft.....would be interested to see what was on flight radar at the time.
These were taken while moving a machine across the campus...not just me....3 other people with me.

woah !!! weird .. how long were you out there? sure it couldn't have been some formation passing by loads earlier?

Beeb Scotland had a story last weekend about a great Red Arrows display somewhere, which I now can't find, but even if the vapour formation survived the jetstream, I doubt if it would have got here yet

SO......Was that natural or not ?
I might send the pics to NZ Met service and see what they say....

Certainly looks like a formation display...as I say, just throwing it out there.

Now there's a coincidence: just a few weeks ago, I took this one on the other side of the planet.



I think they may have followed me home but took a small right turn on the way.

I noticed this effect a few times in the UK, while cruising on the Shropshire Union Canal, courtesy of my sister and brother-in-law.. There were many contrails, each set criss-crossing in the same fashion, but further downwind. I eventually realised the aircraft involved were all on the same track, homing on the same VOR (or maybe an NDB) and the upper winds were carrying each set downwind. You can see in Charl's pic, reading from right to left, that the first chap came past very recently, and the earlier ones have been increasingly dispersed as the wind carried them to the left.

That’s to ensure a more uniform application of the mind altering chemical that we apply from the aircraft spray gear.
The reason that the AIRAC is changed every 28 days is to ensure a more widespread application.
The Earth, being flat, certainly helps with a more uniform spread as well.

Maybe SUBs could chip in. Does he still frequent the forums?

Because 2024 is a Leap Year, the AIRAC missed a day, and SUBS disappeared into the resulting wormhole.
We should look out for him again in 2028.

This one was being sprayed around Facebook a couple of years back. Before that, a Scandinavian politician was actually elected on the strength of her campaign against the use of chemtrails. What a world...
