One of many of these types of youtube posts ...but it's the Dash 8's that look so fragile. Amazing flying skills.
Charl, this would make a good real vs sim thing.

Wow a R vs S VIDEO!
Now there's a thought...
Maybe too rich for AFS2?
MSFS by year end, perhaps.

  I can make landings like that without any help from crosswinds :nahnah:

Seriously though, I am sure the larger AFS2 jets can do that - this is from the IPACS forum

"The advanced autopilot in the airliners uses the track and thus can easily account for crosswind conditions. The a320, b777 and b747 should be able to autoland even in crosswind."

Charl, any video will have to come from you, I've only ever made one, it was hard work, and the end result was so boring. It was that typhoon vid (took all night to upload to youtube)
I'll stick with the screenshots.
I do remember one of the early incarnations of MSFS ...may have even prior to 2000, you could dial up the wind strength and direction, and make the default Cessna hover B-) ....the good old days.

I was talking to one of our IT guys yesterday, who turns out to be a simmer...he has been sourcing old components, to build himself a true DOS machine, just to run some of those early sims. He told me there is the software to mimic DOS etc, but he wanted the real stuff...he's right into the retro stuff... the commodore amiga era.

Video is hard work: 1 minute for every hour you put in.
AFS2 purports to have wind, I tried a crosswind landing in a Dash8 which needed crabbing on finals, but... it just went away on landing??

As to DOS incarnations: Best ever "sim" was a planview wireframe DOSbox where you had to get your bomber there and back with allowable fuel!

I’m sure there’s limitations in terms of crosswinds etc for autoland. For us in the ATR we hand fly at least the last 500ft if not earlier.
