Ok so Im an Aucklander having never experienced an Earthquake, but tonight that changed!!! HAHA!

"Reference Number: 2706265/G
Universal Time: March 07 2007 at 7:01
NZ Daylight Time: Wednesday, March 07 2007 at 8:01 pm
Latitude, Longitude: 40.41°S, 175.35°E
Focal Depth: 7 km
Richter magnitude: 4.6
Region: Manawatu

10 km north-east of Foxton
20 km west of Palmerston North
110 km north-east of Wellington"

It was a really weird feeling... I was sitting at my PC making a movie and next thing my chair starts to sway....I was like am I drunk or something (No drinks in the system!). Everyone then proceeded to exit their rooms like ants into the corridor and there was much excitement! So there ya go, 4.5 Richter...

Sorry I know this is lame for non-jafas, but I thought it was wicked! :D

Mmm you guys have emergency drills?
There are meant to be places you should not be in an earthquake, be a good idea to practice during the 4.5 littlies ;)
It sounds wussy I know, but survivors often talk about how they didn't have to think it out in the heat of the moment.
I always know where the emergency exit is on an aircraft B)

My preference is for it to be right next to me... not coz I want to be able to get out in a hurry, but because it means extra legroom!!

Seats 35A,35B, 35J, 35K on Qantas TransTasman 763's FTW! ;)

That's 2 good reasons then!
Interesting, American airlines tend to ask if you'd mind assisting in an emergency, then you get the EE seat.
Never had that asked in Oceania.

I sat at the overwing exit on a Qantas 737 to Auckland a few years back, and the FA asked if i could lift the 30kg door ok in an emergency
I said yes, but in reality i'm a weakling- just as well we didn't crash :ph43r:

Yeah we had a little bit of turbulence here in Palmy last night. My 5 year old daughter wasn't very impressed. I only felt the one shake, we normally get an aftershock or two but I don't think we did this time.

If Akld has another one does that mean there'll be Jafas rolling down the steep streets :P

I have to fly to Hamilton next week for work.

Judging by the size of the plane I'll just about be sitting next to the pilot. Bet I don't get the extras you get on Qantas. Then again I'm not a movie star.

Don't emergancy exsists tend to be over the aircrafts wing? You may be missing out on a lovely view, unless of course the pilot desides to do some 40degree banks everynow and again all youd see is the wing... (at least watching the spoilers and flaps woudl be fun!)
