Wow, things sure escalated in that auction, ended up selling for $535....... more than i would ever expected, but I will keep my ears peeled for any cheap laptops that come up (from mums work) for you trolley.

If your phone is of a substantial value, you can make a claim on House and Contents insurance, (normally excess is $100) so its a dam sight cheaper than shelling out for a new $1000 phone.

It was only a Sharp GX-17- I tried drying it out in the hot water cupboard (it worked for my mate last year), but it won't even turn on now. About 30 minutes after I got out the pool, when I hit the on/off button the backlight came on but it was only a blank white light. I just took out my sim card and put it in my cool new Sony Ericsson k510i B)

Just a FYI. If you get anything electrical wet, take the battery off it straight away and let it dry somewhere like an airing cupboard, for a few days at least. Even an oven at 50 degrees overnight.
If it's salt water it fell in, pull it apart and rinse under clean water first. It should be ok once dry, it's only when you send power through the circuitry when it's wet that things go bad. I've seen computer motherboards in a kitchen sink with washing up liquid being cleaned of smoke residue and dust come up sparkly clean and work fine when dry.
Anything like this however, you do at your own risk.

That happened to one of my mates once, his phone went through the wash, he dried it out, and bought a new battery and it went fine.
