Hey Guys,

At long last here I am uploading photos of my holiday to Fiji at the beginning of the month... All the photos are aviation related in some way :) So here goes... Enjoy!

Departure from NZAA: This 747 parked up at Gate 2.

After this we boarded, we thankfully got upgraded to business class on the B767 flight to Nadi (on going to KLAX).
Upon arriving we spent the night in Nadi, and got on the ferry for the 50 min ride out to Malolo Island off the mainland. This is what awaited us...

After settling in, the first task for me was scouting out the airfield... There is a road that links our resort to another one, it runs 2m from the end of the airstrip..hehe... see this: (The road runs at the northern end of the runway)

I thought this was hilarious considering its a rather small plane!

This C-U206 is owned by the resort (well really Dick Smith, the owner), and is used for his occasional trip to Aussie or NZ... Real hard life ay!!!??

Well thats it in the photos department... Hope you enjoyed them!
There were other types of aircraft that flew in during my stay but I was always doing something, and didnt have the camera anywhere near... Looking out from the beach was looking right at the approach path for the runway which was sooo wicked. Other aircraft types seen include: C-172, C-152, DHC-8 Floats, Bell 206 Jetranger III, C-206 Floats.

I Have a video of a Islander take off real close to me. I will post at a later date :)
All Photos taken by me! :P

Over all it was a wicked trip and a nice family holiday before my move down here to Uni in Palmerston North :)

Awesome stuff mate, it really is cool at the departure gate when you get to see those heavies, nose first, up close :P

Looks like you had a really wicked time, that scenery is absoultly beautiful and you're very fortunate to have seen so many tropical planes everywhere, thanks for taking the time to capture them and post 'em

Oh and I partiucally liked this one

Great stuff KAG, you probably got the holiday dirt-cheap coz of the lack of visitors due to the coup and everything, lucky guy... :P

Is that still going on? Does it really affect the tourists and stuff? I'd be happy to go there any day whatever the situation B)

That was the idea :P It was definatly a bit cheaper. It was also great because the resort was much quieter than usual, so it was way more relaxing ;)

No, officially its over, but the military still have a strong hold on the runnings of the country. It doesnt affect the tourists at all in any way, there was absolutly no threat to safety. It has affected the economy though, the numbers are well down and there have been staff layoffs. Its real sad, but what can one do?
