What do you think ? ..... not much comment on this so far.
I have feelings about this because of my heritage .... but they cant really be considered , because they are just that ... feelings.... but

I do like the Russian attitude to the world police (read U.S) ... we will throw you out of the G8 ... or whatever ... Russian response "so what"
We will block your U.S bank accounts ..." we will shop elsewhere" ..... Im sorry to say , but west is not always best .... its none of your business , go away ... stay away.

Shoot at will , Im sure you will. winkyy.gif

It takes a number of Big Ego's to wage a successful war.
In this case, there's only one visible, in the person of Comrade Putin.
Last time this happened there were plenty of big ego's: in Austria, France, Britain, Russia, and the Ottoman Empire.
Nowadays the Western lot first ask the People's permission and generally get told: get lost.
Perhaps score one for the social media.

The Russians in Crimea seem happy... I think secretly a lot of Ukrainians hope Putin takes the whole country; it became an economic basket case after the Soviet Union dissolved.
Indeed that's why there is a new leadership in Kiev.
Good luck to them, if I were in charge I'd go back to Mother Russia, who at least has oil and gas.

Pity the Ottomans were eaten up and spat out by WWI, they were a civilised lot.

There, that's enough history for one day... plane.gif

You are a brave Lad to bring this subject up, Split...

...but I'm glad you did... winkyy.gif ...!

My big worry...as always...is that The United States of Aggravation is waving its annoying Spar Spangled Spanner, and rattling its big sabre again...as it always does...and the rest of the World blindly follow, with little or no thoughts of recent history, and its consequences.

We, as Citizens, never get asked our opinion; and trigger-happy Politicians get us involved in someone else's private conflict...again.....as they always do!

My 50 Pence worth... winkyy.gif ...!

Paul.

I'd Putin my dollar and 55 cents in, Policing the world - funny many don't really try and learn history of war, 100 years back - look how that one started and since then has been the go away Yank, Putin is as bad as Stalin in many ways so its the Stars and Stripes for me.

Paul: you're not listening!
For the first time (as I recall) in your country's Parliamentary history, the Government was told NOT to go to war.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-23892783
The Obama administration likewise was pressured by polls and social media to water down its intervention policy
http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/first-read...syria-v20409207

We live in new times, different times.
The Arab Spring was the direct result of social media interaction.

Putin is a relic of a Cold War/KGB past. He will do a little more stuff to pump up his Ego, but the real drivers are the oil oligarchs.
Putting the economic squeeze on them is a smarter alternative to going to war.

If we are to fear anyone in the 21st century, it is the non-elected multinationals, whose profits often exceed the GDP of medium-sized countries.
I mean, look just how easily Kim Dotcom took over New Zealand! laugh.gif

All politics, Little Kimmy caught with a collectors item - the book 'Mein Kampf' signed by the man himself Adolph Hilter, we all no the horrid things he did but is a good example of how media catch's on our superb leaders can turn or use such material as a weapon for political gains, .... idea.gif maybe Little Kimmy should let me look after the book for him for a whiles.
