This is all that is left of my 15 year old Carl Goldberg Super Chipmonk after an engine failure while completing a stall turn on Sunday

I managed to get it down on the ground safe but after loosing height from around 600 ft very quickly and being very close to the strip, it had way too much pace on and and no breeze to help it slow.
As it was getting very close to the end of the strip and the fence very quickly I decided as I still had enough speed on to take off again with no engine I gained height and banked her left and tried to put it down in long grass still going way to fast. The loud crack it made as it settled into the grass was enough to say it all. Oh well that's Aero modeling.
The worst thing about it all was that I am heading down to Christchurch for a week on Friday and was planing to take it down there for a fly.
Now what to replace it with!

Here is a pictured with my electric Hanger9 Funtana back at Queens birthday weekend

One of our club members just happens to have a brand new Carl Goldberg Super Chipmonk kit and has offered it to me for a very good price. Think I might take him up on it although I plan on building it a little different. There have been a couple of full sized Super Chipmonks converted to a two seat open cockpit. I think that would be a good conversion just to be different

I ordered the replacement model for the Chipmomk today

I have also bought the Chipmonk kit from the club member and will start this week putting that together and modifying it into the two seater open cockpit. I like the look of this scheme

Sympathies to you buddy i know all too well how it feels i also lost the exact same model due to radio interference at the Rangiora airshow many years ago now, mine had smoke system as well really gutting, but looks like you have moved on to a cool looking chippy, all the best with this 1 matey

Crikey , not the sort of Chippy i was thinking off .. it looks so different that i don't or cant see any features other than the spread land gear but even the model changes it again .. this just a model feature or they did this to the actual aircraft .

That sounds good Ian I will be down there for Christmas, not sure how that would go for flying at Wigy, must have a look on the calender. I was in at the Heritage center today, made me think about your art, I am sure that would be a good place to sell some of it.
