Download this little programme, set it to 1 million decimal places (1M), and see how long it takes.

I got 43 seconds :)

OK, this is very interesting. My desktop (Pentium 4 3.0GHz, 1GB) achieved a time of 49 seconds, but my laptop (Pentium M 1.8GHz, 448MB) achieved a time of 44 seconds....

47 secs for my Sim PC
1 min 26 secs for my old P4 Dell desktop
1 min 15 secs for my old P4 Vaio laptop
36 secs for my little Q35 laptop!

It definitely surprised me how much faster the Q35 is (but it does have a twin core Centrino Duo...)

Nice... how much did that cost?

A smidge under £1000 back in the Summer. Not outrageously expensive for a slimline laptop, and about 50% cheaper than my 18-month old FS PC which it outperformed!
