Maybe its because Ive had a week of being really up front with people , i find it easy to be the same here .....
I think, if something spurs you on too make a comment , then you should.

Im sorry if i have been a little "forward" with some of my posts over the last 24 hours .... but some things need to be said , it cant all be "touchy feely" stuff like some forums.
I would hope that i will receive the same .... no one can advance if they dont know their (even if perceived ) weakness's ..... consider it (as i will/ and have) constructive .

Well i always put my worst foot forward understanding what I talk about .. HEY ... honesty is the best policy altho not politically correct or in today's world forum chat ...

In some ways - well always , I'm proud i open a can of worms even if the true meaning is not understood , people no I speak in riddle , some in anger and lot in fact .. least I'm open in saying i cant word a sentence like ole Shakey but least can draw like Leonardo .

I usually wind up with my foot in my mouth...but sometimes, like the time I was helping one person in another forum, and some guy posted a demand about the same problem, using an almost identical title, his post appearing directly above the one I was already answering...that called for some serious growling, and that is what he got.
If only newbies understood that forums represent a great pool of knowledge, created by ancients like us who have stuffed up things they can barely imagine (it's called 'experience')

Unfortunately the phrase "speaking my mind" is often used to gloss over ignorance, rudeness, and self arrogance. Most of us base our interactions with other
people on a long established code of behaviour....that's why I don't go around pointing out to people that they are obese etc etc etc. In saying that if I think someone is

I still open doors for ladies Paul .... but these days it seems that when i do so, Im given a sideways glance and no response (not that any was expected)
So now , i only do it for those who appear to be of an age that understand the gesture.... and as you said "apart from that" .....

My only regular contact with humans of the female kind for the past 35+ years, have been the lovely check-out Ladies at my local Supermarket, whom I greet with a big smile, chat, and a laugh and a joke, ......safe in the knowledge that none of them will be back at my home when I get there!

...phew!... ...!

Any way, i opened the door for one young female the other day and got a strange stare and look and then no more talking to me for a few minutes. With younger women these days you do some thing nice and get asked way did you do it. arr well at least i have Flight sim and more flight sim.

All that aside .... it seems to me (at least) that common courtesy has gone out the window.
I have no time for this "give it too me now" generation ..... basic respect for age and experience means nothing .

Ive done my bit , my time , these upstarts know nothing ....

I would love to put them in some of the situations Ive been in , and see how they do , i know the result

Polite , yeah right ..... half of these numb nuts cant even spell it ...... Yes , Im ranting again .........

Its mid-Summer in England now, and for the last couple of weeks we have been having some glorious sunny weather, after a couple of bitterly cold Winters, and I notice as I go shopping that everyone is walking around with big smiles on their faces, and chatting to each other, especially strangers!

Maybe the Sun brings out the best in us!... ...!

Even Motorists give me a smile and a wave as they spot me on my Motor-bike, dressed in my flowery hoola-hoola shirt, and Bermuda Shorts...(still got my Crash-hat on tho').... ...!

I'm quite enjoying all this extended sunshine on my Bike....

...and the happiness all around me!

Admitedly most of my gen is like that, I hope i don't come across like that . About getting smiles, if you dress up as a crown and walk down the street you get really cool looks and lots of laughter and smiles.
