I wont go on to much , but i note that ciggs have gone up $2.00 a packet. What about alcohol??
As far as your smoke free aotearoa by 2015 is concerned......get a life Pita, tariana....and John.....it aint going to happen.
Check the Police stats .... 400+ domestic violence call outs in the last 5 days ..... how many of those were ciggi related?
Smoke free ...yeah right...lets try for a "dead baby" free aotearoa ...and we know how those stats stack up ...... i bet if half (or more) of those offenders just smoked, there would be a whole lot more beautiful little kids walking around now.
Im damm sure, if i had kids, i would rather they saw someone walking down the street with a smoke ....than the agro...pissed... animals i had on my street last night.

Never fear... both these vices have "Kaput" written all over them: poll today shows folks want the blood alcohol limit lowered even further.
There will come a time when your drug of choice will come time-limited, delivered in a small skin patch.
When you leave the party the antidote will trigger, and leave you a small headache as a trophy.

It's like comparing apples with oranges mate, I think you had this discussion this time last year if I recall correctly.
The tax raise to specifically target smokers to lessen the health impact to the country has nothing whatsoever to do with the problems that alcohol causes society. It will hit those who smoke in the pocket, and that's exactly what it is designed to do

Ciggis and times , Booze and times .. you could always smoke anytime any-day , Booze .. still recall the shut down of pubs ..other than special licence .. Trouble with the BOOZE factor ... the huncho's making the rules are incased in it and dictating .. i dumped smoking 15 plus years back but still like a cold one beside me ... I don't knock the people who were they have been brought up on the Ciggi factor only to have (twice today) Nazi factor - govt tell em what to do . ! ... rather than dictate let the pop learn to curve ... and stop

I gave up smoking 27 years ago and the only thing I really miss about it is the Cough cough hack cough hack cough cough and the shitty taste in the morning and the fact that I can now smell the real tobacco smokes putrid stink that smokers can't smell which is a pity because if they could smell it they might think twice about the stinking habit and know how it encroaches on non smokers.
I gave up booze many years ago also as I found the older you get the more it knocks you around mind you I drank enough in my younger days to last me and probably two or three others a life time.

For none smokers here is a little notice you can copy and hang in your house
TO THE VISITOR
CIGARETTE SMOKE IS THE RESIDUE OF YOUR PLEASURE.
IT PERMEATES THE AIR AND PUTREFIES
MY HAIR AND CLOTHS NOT TO MENTION MY LUNGS.
THIS TAKES PLACE WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
I HAVE A PLEASURE ALSO.
I LIKE A CAN OR TWO OF LAGER NOW AND THEN.
THE RESIDUE FROM MY PLEASURE IS URINE.
WOULD YOU BE ANNOYED IF I STOOD ON A CHAIR
AND PISSED ON YOUR CLOTHS?
