Yip , Russian carrier , Russian copies and even folding tail wings ... hey who are they trying to China's first aircraft carrier allocated No.16

Hard to imagine they could lift much weight off the deck without a catapult though, seems so slow launching of that ramp.

Thats how they do it, SU33 has plenty of power and later this will be added.

Locking clamps on the wheel and rely on shear engine trust , i do have some Defence Review books and recall the testing regard to weights , also they had a navalized Mig-29 and Su-25 - bout as far as they got before tests stop due to break down in the county .

One stage the Russians did have three carriers in the works in the mid 80s and was talk of catapults and satalite photos showing to possible but due to end of cold war and break down the hulls were broken on the stocks and scrapped .

It'll probably get TVN as well although unlike a F22 they will be round not square. BTW the Mig29K is the best carrier jet as it has A/G radar and can carry and use alot more weapons as well as targetting pods. SU33 has alot less capability aside a single anti-ship missile the rest is just bombs, cluster bombs and rockets and no R77s unlike the Mig29K.

That's actually a J31 and there's no indication at this stage if it'll be used for carrier ops. Initial analysis has said no.

IIRC these carriers can have cats added on. The other thing is that this carrier is essentially just a training carrier for other ones under construction or about to be started. It's all about capacity and capability building.

A very interesting looking thing , was an article on the news last night about the Chinese build up in the Pacific and through Indonesia , Timor ... i'd love to be around in another one hundred years with this country building or increasing their arm forces and everyone else cutting back .
