Captured this Big Heavy on short finals a couple of days ago when out at Pines Beach....

It sort of reminded me of some of those posted shots of the C17 - and it does fit in with this month's screen capture theme, the only trouble is that Doug will get upset about the lack of FSX aircraft - BUT it is real NZ scenery!!


I was also lucky enough to capture a few more shots while he was 'in the circuit' prior to finals!!

Just call it the Curtiss SOC Seagull and you might get away with it

Nicely captured. It is an "aircraft" after all isnt it?

Beautiful shot Greg , tend too take all that natural engineering for granted , just look at the wings , and he's even got a bit of elevator going on there as well.
Birds never cease to amaze me.

Hmm, that sounds like I'm getting some sort of official blessing!!

I was watching a couple of plovers having a go at a hawk today...... amazing. Their turn rate is up there with the flanker, and hawk was doing well too. As i said before , i could watch birds for hours ...... put bread and rice out most nights and enjoy the antics of the blackbirds and starlings , then the waxeyes come help the sparrows clean up.
Its not a bad deal really, they eat the stuff i put out and in return they (blackbirds) get the slugs and snails off my vege's and the waxy's nip over and clean up the roses (aphids)....... just wish they could mow the grass.

Birds , Riccarton HS .. watching dogfights between magpies and seagulls .. if only they could carry guns ....... mowing lawns tho ... i'd rather watch the grass grow , thank Alia for concrete

Know what you mean, we have a couple of resident blackbirds which keep the others in check (unless a gang of starling appear and take over!). I quite enjoy watching them - the male sometimes comes up to the conservatory door as it to say "come on, where's our grub?"
