I was hit buy a trolley in the supermarket a couple of days ago, just happened to to have my phone screen out, in my pocket....and when i got home i noticed the crack. Still works , but looks awful.
And before you ask....no insurance.
Cheers.

Bummer...
I would have thought Samsung would use pretty tough glass... guess not, or it was a pretty hard hit!
I've got a Motorola Defy with Gorilla Glass (supposed to be pretty tough stuff and very hard to scratch... Had for 2 years and not a mark on it, but of course, the earpiece failed within 2 months ( a common problem with that model) so I have had to use speakerphone for ages... Oh well!

Dean, it was a real hard hit ...... im glad the phone took the brunt of it , or i may have lost the crown jewels (or one of them anyway)

Found a local place (thanks Doug) that can replace it , but for $350 ....so its on hold for a while. Its a magic phone , will have to take more care of it.

Bad luck man that sux. I know the S3 is very new but you might wanna take a look on eBay and see if u can source a new screen component and/or front glass and fit it yourself. I bought an N95 a couple of years back and broke the LCD about 3days after I bought it. Found a replacement in the uk for about 10pound and broke out the jewelers screwdrivers and managed to.suss out how to fit it. May not be as simple on the S3 but worth a look
Good luck mate

Marty when you say no insurance do you mean no specific insurance for the phone or no house contents insurance? If you have the later it may be worth looking into.

Yeah just see what your excess is. We dropped a camera a while ago and claimed on contents. Well worth it.

Hi Marty,
Another avenue to explore would be an approach to the supermarket management re accidental damage to your person by an errant trolly - which they own and should be insured against - best of luck
Cheers, Bill

Possible, but you will likely need some pretty compelling evidence to make a claim on that basis.... i.e. quality video footage.... or more than 1 eyewitness.

Marty for what it is worth I inquired as to the cost of a screen replacement at a place that does phone repairs in San Francisco . I thought that it may be cheaper to repair there but it is actually quite pricey at US$300 plus tax.
