I've lost count the number of times I've heard about advanced aircraft - either supersonic or sub-orbital - that are going to radically change the way we fly, blah, blah, blah. It will be great if it ever happens - wonder how long before us plebs can afford to use such a service?

I think Jeremy Clarkson summed up by once saying - "Concorde died, not because it was too fast, but because it was too slow". In other words high speed internet allowed virtual meetings to happen across continents instantly, rather than after a high speed flight from London to NY for a meeting and then back. Although, I can see why they are targeting the corporates who can afford such luxuries.
That said aviation has sort of stagnated in the last 30 years with only advances in efficiency (engines and composites) rather than anything else terribly radical in terms of speed or new propulsion.
