Saw this last night in 3D, well worth it, although my head is still spinning from the breathless pace of the action.
In fact, when the disk is released, I will buy it.
The relevance here?
Well, when the titles roll, you will see the name Weta appear several times.
You know, the one from Wellington.
They are a worldclass - make that world-leading - act, and it's almost a co-incidence the Spielberg fellow was involved (Directing by webcam from S Francisco I'm told).
But the reason I'll buy it is for the floatplane sequence.
Weta has taken "animation" to a new level. If the water in that sequence is CGI... whew!
I of course want a flightsim like this.

Love Tintin comics...they have a lot realism where you can actually identify the cars and aircraft....was the aircraft on the movie a Norseman?

I went and saw it- AMAZING animation...I found it a bit 'Stephen Speilbergy' in places but overall it was good smile.gif

It got me thinking about the lead time that film animation has over in game play. If you look back at some cut scenes from your old games etc and then compare what modern 3D game engines can do today, it won't be too long before we have this kind of quality in a game environment.

Charl, I'm right there with you. I saw the movie in 3D as well, and found myself forgetting it was CGI at times. The way that desert transformed into a sailboat at sea was just amazing. In fact, nearly everything in that movie was amazing. The attention to detail in every aspect so perfect. I will buy the DVD as well, and count down the days to the next movie. The flying scene was amazing, and funny! biggrin.gif
I sat out the credits in the hope of something hidden at the end (frequent now days) so noticed the input from Weta. They are the leading edge, and it's nice to know they are kiwis. Perhaps we should write and see if they'll make us a new flight sim?? laugh.gif

Must see movie

Paul I also grew up on Tintin... it was a little scary I always thought, quite Grown Up for a comicbook.
And I'm sure Herge would have approved of Spielberg's treatment - the gesture beautifully captured.
Realism: of course, I thought it was an Otter at first, but I'm sure you're right, it was a Norseman.
