Had an odd day today, i piped at a funeral this afternoon for a vietnam vet (Amazing grace, very popular )....seems to be big generation gap between those guys and , even my generation (the 50 somethings)
Very little (as far as i could see) support from the RSA, and only about 20 people.....got me thinking.
We (as we should) remember the WW1 men, and WW2, but theres not much recognition for the Veitnam guys.....

This particular person, did 2 tours.....and i believe, that he believed,he was doing the right thing with little or no recognition.....

Anyway, it was nice because i was accompanied by a young fella (15) on a snare drum.....and he was good. After our bit was done he asked me "where is Vietnam?".....a 15 year old!!.....i told him not to worry about it....just Practice the drum.

Another thing that came to light was when a woman said to me "i love scotch music".......SCOTCH IS A DRINK!!!! or some kind of TAPE!!!! The bloody music is scottish!!!

Anyway, it was an odd day..................

And Ian....they(pipes) dont sound like cats.....well, maybe at first.....but it grows on ya mon...........

Marty , we have a regular in the in the multiplay team-speak chat-room 'Cameron' (16) a very knowledgeable in the history , WWII and Vietnam ! and damn really had some excitement in discussing the histories off both Wars .

Yes and they can play. As a Scot I have to admit that the New York Fire Department has a very good pipe band.
