Top Gear Live is back !

Show dates are Thurs 18 - Sun 21 Feb 2010. If it follows the same pattern as last year Wednesday will be setup and various bits of rehearsal, Thursday will be more organised rehearsal then a full run through in the afternoon, leading up to show #1 on Thursday evening. We will probably be involved from Wednesday morning through until Sunday evening.

And we'll be looking for stagehands - ideally ones who can do all five days .........

I'll have no school next year, so I'm keen as beans. I should be able to find somewhere to stay.

Won't you be in the air force driving a rubbish truck because you can't write neatly ?

But I'm not going to say it, as jokes go it's just too tired.

Laying awake all night can do that to you ........

I hear those Insomniacs Anonymous meetings are really interesting - nobody ever falls asleep there laugh.gif

More seriously, I've said I have three who are keen to do all 5 days of TGL with a 4th if needed. Mates, even the ones I've never met, go to the top of the list when I'm trying to finagle people in to these things. Mate's dads are down in the reserves - but last year there were a couple of days where we were scratching for people so that's certainly not a 'no thanks'.

Hmm, here's some interesting gossip ... The company TG used for their international tours is in receivership, so from the UK end the tour may or may not be organised by the same people. While we know there will be a TGL in Auckland we're not sure who will be organising it, or who they will be getting to do the sound and lighting - and it was the S&L people they used last year who asked us to supply stagehands.

Watch this space !

Righty ... The promoters of the Auckland shows have chosen a different A/V company, but they have also approached us directly to provide cool wall drivers and stagehands. We must have done a good job last time biggrin.gif

We've been allocated 14 places (we're asking for 18), and invites to the 15 people who did all days last time were sent out today, with the condition that it is all 5 days or nothing. Next week we'll start sending out invites to fill the gaps and extra spaces. so Tom, Chris and Sam, keep an eye on your messages ...

Cheers
Gary

Cool wall DRIVERS? Do you think having a Class 2 will increase my chances of driving something hot? If there's an RS6 there you'd best keep it locked because I'd punch an infant for a proper drive of one.

Yeah drivers. You think those porsches / astons / lamborghinis / AMGs / ..... brought themselves out into the arena then went away and parked themselves ? Actually that was one of the more bum-clenching parts last year, as if getting the GT2 in and out without stalling it wasn't challenge enough (I managed it most of the time icon_redface.gif) then I had to maneuvre it through the tightly packed paddock shed between all the other show cars and the cool wall cars and the spare cool wall cars, then back it up to a concrete wall hard up against the AMG Black - and then get out without banging the door on the Black (something else I only managed most of the time laugh.gif)

As of right now 6 of the 15 people have replied and all have accepted. There's at least one that we're pretty sure won't be able to make all days, plus the extra positions if they get approved, so fingers crossed ...

In a GT2 ? It was Saturday afternoon before I worked up the nerve to go anywhere near the accelerator, even just idling around I could feel it sensing my inexperience and wanting to kill me. Actually, all things considered, it was a bloody awful car. Give me an Aston anytime.

Last time while I was wandering around the car displays between shows I kept meeting people I knew, who knew each other, but had no idea they were there together. Maybe we should have a list of what shows people are going to be at biggrin.gif
