Saturday was forecast to be a cold, wet, dull, miserable day.... .....

....by mid-day it had warmed up enough, (42F), to encourage me to wheel my Motorcycle out and do some of my usual shopping via a slightly longer route!....

It turned out to be rather fun...(although still a bit chilly), and well worth the extra journey!

This Saturday and Sunday have been a total wash-out for Motorcycle riding. It has poured with rain non-stop for both days.

Just a word for some of my old Biker Chums, do any of you own a Harley-Davidson model with a; "TwinCam" motor, (following the Single-Cam Evo Motor)?

Today's expedition to the electronic's shop for some rechargeable AA batteries for my Pentax Optio 30 Digital Camera!
More expensive than the ordinary Alkaline AA batteries, but at least I can keep re-using them...and they last longer!

The journey on a damp day, but at least it wasn't raining, like it did, non-stop, over Saturday and Sunday!...>>>>

Hey Paul, no never owned a HD but came close recently as was looking at buying a Buell. Will look at those vids, sounds intriguing.

In other bike news, I did buy myself a new machine last week, picked up on Saturday. A more or less brand new Yamaha MT10, quite a machine. Taking it easy for the coming weeks to get my head around it, is heavier than my old MV Agusta but much more stable. Is bloody hungry on gas but that's hardly a reason for complaint Bizarrely it comes fitted with cruise-control which is weird to experience on a bike but is making sense on my motorway commute in the morning where you don't wanna be watching the speedo all the time...

I've been riding Bikes since I was 16, and got my licence in 1950!

Had all sorts of bikes since then, both British and Japanese!

One of my Lads now has recently bought a Triumph Speed Triple, and his wife has a Yamaha MT03.
One of my Lads recently sold his Honda SP2 Supersport twin and is now on off-road bikes.
My Son-in-Law has an Aprilia V-4.

Resting at home at the present, is my 1995 Honda CB500RR twin, my 1983/1993 Yamaha RXS 100 and my Yamaha FS1M...2-strokes.

...and my 1948 Vincent HRD, 1,000cc Rapide vee-twin has long since gone...sold...

and my lovely 1992 Honda CBR 600 FM Supersport was lifted from my front garden a few years ago by thieving toe-rags!

...But my present 1985/1996 Honda CMX250C twin, fulfils most of my needs for a lightweight, manageable cruiser...with feet firmly planted on the ground!

Its nearest look-alike is the 1982-84 Harley-Davidson FXWG Shovelhead Wideglide!

....a 1957 Harley-Davidson Panhead would be very nice!

After 68 years, daily, of riding all sorts of; "ordinary" bikes, I quite like the smooth comfort of Cruisers now!

...and now I've got lots of American "cruiser bikes" friends now, on Youtube!

...no more high-speed stuff for me now...been there, done it, got all the Tee-shirts!!

Just want to observe all the scenery around me now, as I explore the countryside at sensible speeds!

Jeeze Paul you really have had an excellent variety of hardware. I've only been biking for the last 15 years or so and most of my bikes have been sports machines more than anything.
Speaking of the Honda SP2 and Aprilia V4 - two of the three guys I ride with regularly have one of those apiece, both excellent machines aye.

And your right about cleaning, first wipe over yesterday as was filthy, perhaps Black wasnt the wisest choice

I'm still very glad that I sold my 1948 Vincent HRD 1,000cc Rapide!
The most troublesome Bike I ever owned!
I purchased a lovely 1992 Honda CBR 600 FM Supersport to replace it....
...much more sensible!

...and then it got stolen out of my front garden.....never to be seen again!

Haha, Touche` :-) .. the designers of the R6/R1 and their MotoGP bikes over the last couple of decades might beg to differ
TBH their MT series of bikes has never been designed for aero needs, its more of a zero-100(ish) thing

Mr. Sainsbury provides the special parking place for me in exchange for most/all of my State Old Age, and Company Pensions during my daily visits to his delightful Emporium.

My 1985-1996 Honda Rebel; "Daisy" design was based upon the 1981-1983 Harley-Davidson FXWG Wideglide, vee-twin....

...just the engine is a bit different!....LOL...!

My engine is a 234cc, vertical parallel twin, with both pistons going up and down together, and a 360-degree firing order (wasted spark ignition; one cylinder fires on the compression stroke, the other fires on the exhaust stroke)....

...which gives the bike its strange, (I love it), off-beat sound at tick-over....

...a bit like a 1981-1983 Harley-Davidson FXWG Wideglide vee-twin at slow tick-over...in my wideglide/wildest dreams!.... ... ...!

That's the reason why you always see me adjusting the low-speed tick-over on my normally-aspirated, Constant Velocity Carburettor (one of those old-fashioned things which I love!)...none of this modern "Fuel-Injected" fan-dangle!.... ...!

Looking at the seat height of Dean's Amazing New Speed Machine.... ....

..one of the main reasons I have gone to "Cruiser-type" Motorcycles, after zillions of years riding All-rounders and Sports bikes, is their 26-inch, low seat height!... ....!

After a number of occasions when I have fallen over with my bike on top of me when tip-toeing, and stationary, at road junctions, etc!....

At a mere 5-Feet 6-inches long (on a good day), and weighing a mere 150 Lbs (before Dinner), I am not long enough, or powerful enough to prevent the pain and embarrassment of falling off my bikes...especially when Folks are watching!.... ...!

So..."flat-footing" on a "Cruiser" relieves the stress and worry of my Children, and on-lookers, etc, and leaves me comfortably in complete control of my machine!.... ....!

Some of the Bike manufacturers/designers are going crazy with their daft, high seat-heights!.... ....!

It hasn't happened to me yet, but it would be nice, to just be able to step off, clear of my bike, if it falls over!

So there you go....

....old age and lack of stamina relegate me to Cruisin' on Cruisers now!

I just need a; "Hells Angels" Leather Jacket now, Leather Chaps....a Stars and Stripes Bandana, and a pair of; "Shades", to complete the picture!...... ...!
