Try www.kol.co.nz they have unlimited Dial Up for $9.95 per month.

Read their TOU,its very different. They advertise as unlimted, but they cut you off after 4 hrs, then you have to sign in again.

Oh whoopey do! So if you tie up your phone line for more than 4 hours then really you should be thinking of a second line or Broadband! But then again after install a second line and extra rental on that second line you might as well GET Broadband.

You get what you pay for!

Thanks for the tips guys.
But as I said I'll put up with Dialup until the Broadband wars settle down. The 30hrs are fine at the moment. I could increase to unlimited for $14.95 per month if it becomes a problem.

The speed for downloads is why I'd want the Broadband connection and I can use my work PC if I really need a file. If I tied up the home phone for 4hrs I'd be sleeping in the garage. Mrs Bandit would think her arm had been cut off if she couldn't phone her mother for that long.
Testers are born to fiddle. What does this button do? Oh! Never mind.....

I am currently on Xtra Go-Large for the sum total of $0/month... B)

My employer requires that I have remote access, so they pay for my broadband access via Telecom Shared Billing... which is set to 100% employer

May need to investigate one of the Pro plans so I can get a better upstream speed than 128k, but I am concerned about the smallish 15gig cap and 2c/meg overage charges.

Theoretically my line is around 7mbit (connected at something like 7168), but because of telecoms awesome <_< contention ratios of around 923451632:1 my 'observed' speeds are more like 256kbit

I would not complain or boast about Free internet to loudly  your employer may not like that much <_<

Two of Telecoms plans is highspeed up and down, the first one has a cap of 1gig  (5/8s of bugger all) and the 2nd is $80mth with a decent cap. Wish that the 1gig cap were higher.(say 5gig would make it worthwhile)

I'm now on Telstra PDQ. I also asked for interleaving to be switched off.

I have full down and up now, with a ping drop of over 20 m/s. I used to get 80 ping to Inspire for IL2, now it's 50 - 60, and that's with my son playing CS!

They called me today and said that the free modem should be here tomorrow.

I'm stoked :D

what i would like is a full speed plan in both directions, with an unlimited cap (even if it had traffic shaping). i'd pay an extra $10 or 20 bucks a month for the privilege too. but of course that will never be a reality with VOIP being so accessible on that sort of plan.

Well we had our cable installed today and I am like :D :D :D :D :D
There are only two things that I dont like so far but these are far outweiged by the speed of it. 1) I have no idea how much of it I have used. 2) There are like a billion lights flashing at me at the moment on both the modem and the router, and its made even worse that they arent flashing in sync with each other they're all flashing at different times
Lcukily the instructions have come in handy for once especially with them having about 10 languages as I have put them up infront of the modem and router so that I can no longer see the lights. I was also intrigued that when they gave us the upgrade to digital tv from the analogue as well as a new decoder there is also a modem identical to the one next to this computer  but on the whole :D :D :D :D :D
