I'm sure people can go and post whatever they want on a Corporal Punishment forum somewhere else, just keep in mind when posting where you are.  ;)

Alex

Yes this is a Flight Sim forum - BUT - if you look at the heading you will will see it called - OFF TOPIC. Its intended to be used for just that i would have thought.

That way if you don't want to read off topic posts then, guess what - you don't have to scroll to the bottom and read them !!!

Deane

I'm inclined to agree. Unless it's offensive or derogitory, anything goes in Off Topic- such are the rules posted at the top of the forum.

Hmmmmm I didnt see anything that would suggest this post was turning un-civillised all I could see was a general debate on what some would say was a worthy argument whether it interests you or not it is still interesting to see other peoples points of view and as deane pointed out it is an "OFF-TOPIC" forum so I would hope anything would go (within reason of course).

See now that was my opinion on it completely "Off-Topic" but thats the whole point hahahaha I gotta lay off the woodys and V.

That this thread should be started is real twilight Zone material for me personally.
They stopped using the cane the year I started High School, much to their regret I might add! But that's not why I'm posting, I could go on all night and tomorrow night too on that subject!
Just last Friday I went to court after having been charged with a summary offences assult charge. (Summary offence means lowest level charge available)
Now I'll try to be brief, long story short is that I had an uninvited guest turn up on my doorstep at 11:52pm on a Thursday night demanding that I hand over my children to this person or they would go to CYFS and any other Govt Dept that would listen and report me for illicit drug taking and anything else he could dream up. Now this person happens to be my father who lives in Hamilton and he'd driven down in his car and was staying elsewhere in town at my sister's house that they were doing up for sale.
He had been out to visit about 3 days earlier and in a conversation asked me what would happen to my kids if I became unable to care for them for whatever reason. I said that they would go to their stepfather and be with their half brothers and sisters who they love dearly and spend much time with.He replied with "But surely you would want me to come and live in your house and have them raised by me". to which I replied that that was just not appropriate and I told him as nicely as I could that he is just too out of touch with the real world, he can't cook, doesn't clean his house, and has 2 out of control dogs that he has most definately gone to! I explained that he just wasn't capable and that I had to put my kids first, not his ego!. So the conversation moved on and I thought that was the end of it untill that fateful night when I was apparently a hopeless druggie and not capable of raising my own kids! I must be on drugs if I can't see that my kids should go to him! and remember this is all hypothetical!
I asked 'on what basis do you make these allegations' and offered to go and be tested just to reassure him that I in fact was not on drugs.
But no that would not do and stated that his basis was an isolated incident about 2 years ago!. Of course I didn't know what he was on about! It was well after midnight by now and I had to be up early the next morning so I said ' Oh for F****s sake man just get back in your car and get the f*** out of here. I thought he must have really lost the plot, he doesn't drink alot that I know of but does have a small glass of Port at night for sleeping he says. But I couldn't smell anything and could only think back to my childhood and remember his behaviour as I was growing up.
But he hadn't behaved in a ridiculous manner like this for nearly 20 years.
Anyway he wasn't moving and was raising his voice even more, my kids hadn't woken so I just wanted him gone as quietly and qiuckly as possible so I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him backwards so he could turn around and be on his way telling him to go and cause what trouble he wanted but to think carefully as he would not be welcome back if he did.
He chose to resist my push (not slam or shove,) and he slipped over in the process and was now on the ground.
He stayed on ground for what seemed like too long, and he wasn't injured at all so I gave him a prod with my foot and said "Hurry up, on your way" and I then turned around and went inside and shut and locked the door behind me. I heard his car start a couple of mins later and that was the last I saw of him.
Then on the Saturday morning about 11am there's a bloody cop at my door arresting me for assault! I couldn't believe it, and gave my version of events but was charged anyway!
So I get a lawyer (legal aid) and get to see the evidence against me. It is claimed there that I punched him to the ground(in the face) and repeatedly kicked whilst on
the ground for 15-20 seconds!
Now my whole defence was that I was simply using reasonable force to remove an unwanted tresspasser who had refused to leave late at night.
My lawyer said to me 'who do you think the judge will believe' as I was pleading not guilty all the way. It was put to me that the police would lower the charge and say 'prodded with foot' instead of the other down right lies. My lawyer strongly advised me to take the deal.
Funny how they never consulted the 'victim' to tell him they wanted to lower the charge! So I plead guilty, very reluctantly I might add and was fined $400 plus court costs $130!
A total stitch up , and by my own flesh and blood, What's worse is my Mum rang me (They're divorced, surprise surprise) and the idiot thinks he wants to come down here and stay at my house for Xmas! Incredible.
The reason I say this is so uncanny is someone puts this thread up, I've just had an incident that is like corperal punishment, well maybe not but you know what I mean,
Now I am not a violent person at all and have not been in trouble with the Police since I was a teenager ( Traffic Offences), almost 20 years ago and am just a solo dad getting on with life and minding my own business and this happens!
Just remember everybody, We have a LEGAL system, not a JUSTICE system in this otherwise great land of ours. And except for our policeman simmer and he's not in NZ anyway, The police are not your friend  Well not the procecuter on that occasion, and they brought up that I was a black belt at Shorinji Kempo! Not true when I left Kempo also about 20 years ago I had got to 4th Kyu, which is the first stage of brown belt, (Black would be 3 belts away)
This was to try and make out that I really dealt to him and they had Photo's that had no injuries on them at all,
I think the old geezer has lost it, he is 70 and I treated him accordinly, (gently)probably Alzheimers or something, I don't know but certainly not on this planet, yet this was never proposed or talked about at all!
Yes truth is way stranger than fiction folks.
Now just before I sign off, it has taken quite alot of thought and consideration whether to post this. It is personal and not FS related and I know there will be those who go ' Oh he's not telling us everything and he must be guilty cos the police said so" To you I say ignorance is bliss my friend untill it happens to you.
I am not anti authority and fully understand how and why we have the systems we have as a society. It is said that as much as 80% of people are not in a job that they're really suited to though. And on the whole the arresting officer in my case was a decent bloke who had been told to come and get me. It was not he who had taken the complaint and had not met my Father. He processed me quickly and didn't muck me about like some of the stories I've heard about them taking ages, (4 Hours) leaving you in a cell! There was none of that and I think he actually believed me but had to do what he was told.
 I think my old mans ego is what got assulted, the way he treated my mother when I was too young to protect her was despicable. He hit her for the last time when I was 17 and she came downstairs crying with blood coming out the corner of her mouth! I said to her "has he just hit you" and she replied 'leave it, just leave it alone' so I went upstairs and he was standing there and said 'You've hit her for the last time and I then executed a right upper cut to the under jaw which lifted him right off the ground and sat him on his arse! I then turned around and walked back downstairs to see how my mother was. He never touched her again after that and she found the strength to leave him once and for all not too long after that incident. The police were not involved in that incident and I can't help but wonder if he's trying to cause me trouble over that from 20 years ago?
You wouldn't think so but stranger things have happened I'm sure!
Well I hope that provided some entertainment for somebody! >nzflag< :ph43r:  :(

good on you for posting your story, i know it takes courage to tell others about your court appearances- my friend was very embarrassed about his disorderly conduct offense and only told me after it happened.
i suppose the police were just doing their jobs. for every 5 arrests like yours, there must be 1 serious assault that really warrants it. the arrest seems like a waste of the court's time, which highlights the realities of the legal system (pleading early to avoid trial).

Thats an interesting story Codge, can't believe that without any evidence such as injuries that they would go ahead and charge you with assault. Bad luck on the fine mate.

Very interesting story Codge, you seem like a nice guy- too bad on the fines :(

The police are not your friend

Don't we know it! The other night me and my mates were driving around town, when a police car decided to pull us over for no reason. We were in my mates car (a modified japanise import, very racy. He has a rice daddy lol), and the police took one look at it and the teenage driver and decided to find something wrong with it, which they couldn't! Its 100% legal!

My other mate was in his car following us, and had pulled over behind us and the cops to see if everything was ok. He got out of his car, and started walking over to us, but once he saw us getting back into our car, he ran back to his car to follow us. The copper saw him running, and must of thought he was trying to steal (his own) car, and chased him, pulled him onto the floor and stood on his back shouting at him  This came out of nowhere, it was insane! The cops round Auckland have too much time on their hands <_<

LMAO, the fact he ran is what would have made them decide to check him out. It looks quite suspicious I'd guess.
