He may have realised the error of his ways when he earthed the 25kV overhead, but I doubt it.

Surely a candidate for a Darwin award, if not already a recipient?

Rob, with respect to your scenery design, have you considered selling on Flightsim.to? Assuming that you are still having issues with Marketplace.
There is also the option of either donations (via Paypal) or "buying coffees". I have used these options for many sceneries and utilities. A great resource with no hosting fees.
Still many airfields waiting for your masterful touch Rob. MSFS 2024 is looking very good.

I had an HO scale layout for many years and Hornby Dublo 3 track before that. Solving the electrical issues in a standard DC setup should be relatively easy.

If it was working fine then it is normally either dirty wheels or dirty track. Soldering the connectors can help but I only started doing that when I converted to DCC. You will be surprised how dirty track will get just sitting there for a little while.

One thing I decided when I retired was that I wouldn't try and earn anything going forward, my goal is to not have to bother with manually filling out my tax return! I have turned down commercial jobs, and done a couple for free, but that doesn't mean that I won't change my mind if I really get into MSFS2024 development -- there are a few projects on hold which were never really up to standard because of the sim limitations, so I'm keen to see if some of these can't be improved. These are simple airports, but because they don't have a lot of character they need to rely on a better rendition of the ground/vegetation, so they don't just have carefully modelled buildings on blurry grass.

Yes, I've given the track and wheels a wipe with isopropyl alcohol, and although it is a bit better it is still reluctant to get going again in some spots. I have been thinking about a new locomotive -- the one I use is second-hand from Trademe, bought as a stand-in for the actual steam loco at the museum, and although it has always run ok I don't really know it's history. I did buy a loco which was closer to the real one, but it runs erratically, I bought it as-is and knew it wasn't running well, but it does look the part. I have been thinking of trying a new one of this model, although currently not available at any NZ supplier, and I do try and support local shops.

Today I've been experimenting with my new phone, a budget Motorola which replaced my Samsung recently. The Samsung started to play up, and the shop told me that it wasn't worth even trying to get it looked at under warranty (6 months old), so I've given up on Samsung. Anyway, the Samsung camera was a lot better, I still use it, but it's easier to use the new one. Today I fixed the ratio, which had always driven me balmy...

The horizontal pixel count remains the same, so effectively the image is smaller, but as I use medium size anything, it doesn't really make much difference.

The phone has a separate lens for macro, so I tried that too. The sensor is a lot smaller, but I kinda like it. It definitely shows how messy my models are when you look closely!

It's the same neural path, you do realise?
Build the scenery, take the screenshot :)

I want somewhere like Whitianga to fly my Waco.

Does a model train or a simulator flight actually exist if there are no pics? All of my hobbies really stem from my interest in photography, all the way back to my Miranda SLR in high school. Recently I read a post of mine from 20 years ago where I mentioned a camera that I don't remember owning...
I do have a nice DSLR nowadays, but sometimes it's easier to reach for the phone. My phone automatically uploads to the cloud, so no transferring required. The DSLR needs to be plugged in(!), although come to think of it, the transfer is then automatic. We've come a long way since my all-night darkroom sessions back in the day.

I was gonna say that I've seen a Whitianga recently, but I think that might have been X-plane.

Rob - you were kind enough to let me test your Coromandel scenery, converted for AFS2. The imagery and mesh were so good I was able to add several airstrips where I could land 'on the photo' without using the awful looking runway objects used in FS Cloudport. Whitianga was one; I moved Coromandel to its correct location (FSC had it wrong) and also made Thames, Pauanui, and a fictional beach one called Whiritoa Sands. They were really just location markers with no buildings, just the runway, start points, and parking coordinates.
When IPACS finally release the Airport Constuction Tool part of the AFS4 scenery SDK, I will do them again, and also upgrade my Chatham Islands scenery. The default NZCI autogen has a couple of grain silos where there should be water tanks.

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

The photography mode in FS2024 must pique your interest then Rob.
