Long weekend

Postby simonh » Thu Oct 19, 2023 9:41 am

Good morning folks,
There's nothing like a long weekend but when you ask your boss for two extra days and he says okay it becomes a loooong weekend.
So with five days off, I've got a bit of time for reading :D
The only problem is which book do I start to read...I have a couple to choose from so it might come down to a toss of a coin.
Anyway folks, enjoy this Labour Day weekend, I hope you all have a good one :)

Good on ya Simon. I also took a sneaky one off today and headed to Ruapehu for a days skiing, season ends in the North Island this weekend. Was a great day for it, pic following of the gloriously empty queues, this shot of the Far-West T-Bar :-) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cyj0NvlPpkT/

On the book front, I bought one with me too .. "Lifting the Veil: Life in Revolutionary Iran" by John Simpson & Tira Shubart https://www.amazon.com/Lifting-Veil-Lif ... 0340628146

And or a lighter front and more relevant to NZFF bought 3 x 2017 copies of Airliner World mag too

Enjoy the long weekend all you kiwis.

There was a common family joke years ago:
- Is Monday a holiday?
-Yes, like Brendan's jokes, we've got a long weak end

Same here deeknow,I booked this off ages ago. Almost canceled it yesterday due to one of my team being absent ...leaving only one on the ground, but she is very capable and should be ok.
I'm only 10 minutes away if it all turns to custard.
Simon, re your book choice...from memory, your collection rivals any library I know of ...just close your eyes and grab one

 It was a hard school, Dean. My younger bro, when he learned to say his name and address would proudly announce "I'm James P (for Patrick) Ward" so he was known as Peefir from then on...
Fast forward to 1987, Darling Daughter and I are visiting and the entire family is assembled at Dad's place. Dad is directing the group photo and says
"Give Peef the camera, he takes a good photo" and the rest of us chorus "It depends what side of the camera he's on".
