AI

Did anybody listen to National radio (Jesse Mulligan) yesterday afternoon Oct?

He had a guest who is at the forefront of AI research and development and what he had to say was both amazing and alarming.
According to him the current level of AI, comparatively, is that of a fly compared to us as Einstein. By 2029 (Just 8 years away) AI will be equal to us in intelligence (actually probably surpassed some people in our country already) . From them on we will be second. AI, Humans then the Apes.
By 2045-49 AI will be ONE BILLION times more intelligent.
He says that it is time we all had a discussion.

One thing he had to say was most alarming. He compares Humans (being the most intelligent beings on the planet) and how we treat the Apes and the environment, as to how AI will treat us. AI, Humans then apes. He said it could be a Utopia or, just as equally, it could view mankind as a virus..... to be eliminated.
Issac Asimov's 3 laws of robotics probably wont cut it I'm thinking.

With the advent of Hypersonic missiles. the normal human responses are too slow to respond. A missile is launched and by the time a human confirms it, identifies it, tracks it, and attempts to intercept it, it is too late
AI is already in place and being refined to deal with the issue. On the fly Human decisions will be too slow. Each potential scenario must have an associated algorithm as to how AI will respond.

I don't think we really need to worry about fossil fuels or climate change. Skynet and the Terminator dooms day scenario is probably close at hand.
The current China, Taiwan and the US situation might just start the ball rolling.

Hasta La Vista, Baby.

Was listening to The fighter Pilots podcast and he had a DARPA guest on, and talked about the use of AI in training fighter pilots. Very interesting discussions have also happened with what's called move 37, which was done by an AI programme called AlphaGo, in a game of Go between what was the world's best player and their AI programme. (Good YouTube video about that development)

Also you have Team NZ using AI to train against in their defence of the America's Cup recently.

Oh I don't know.. maybe they will be too busy trying to get upgrades fitted for their own war, and won't bother us

Unlimited power + limited intellectual capacity = disaster.
